Here is a photo of my homemade cabbing machine. The motor is a sealed drip proof Leeson I found on ebay for $50. I just use an expanding drum wheel that I run diamond belts on. I made the wheel guard from a 6" schedule 40 sewer cap from Menards. It is a very thick and tough plastic which should contain most any wheel related accident. I got the bubbler from Graves. After receiving it I found that a sprayer of this type can be made for about $6-$8 with a drill press and some scrap metal. The stand came from Menards as well, it was about $20. The wood was just some stuff that was laying around. The cake pan was the cheapest one I could find that had a none-stick coating, the coating prevents rust. I had some little rubber stick on feet that I put on the bottom of the pan to keep it from sliding around. The only tricky part is the mandrel that attaches the grinding wheel to the motor shaft. I purchased a couple different ones but found them to be too wobbly so I made one for it. Now the wheel spins true and vibration free. I hope this offers some inspiration for my fellow DIY'ers.

Great job Joe,
I particularly like the wheel guard.
Now I know what to do with an old bench grinder that I have.
Many thanks for the idea.

Less is indeed more! The only issue I see, is the lack of speed control. The expandable drum has a very short life at 1800rpm and up. Aside from that, that is what I prefer to do. My first machine was just like that. I used it for a long time.

I have a Graves bubbler and a couple of some other kind. The Graves works better than the others but knowhere better than the ones on my Genie which would only work on a Genie.
If you need more water, get a second Graves Bubbler and create a Y from your pump at the bubbler end.

Doc, you bring up a very important point about motor speed, "RPM" . This perticular one is 1725 and I realy don't recomend using one that runs faster. You would be running the risk of serious bodily harm by wheel breakage.

1725 is a good speed for the expando. Nice job. The guard looks like a piece of art.

You said that the bubbler could be homemade for 5 or 6 dollars, do you have any suggestions or drawings on how to go about building a home made bubbler?
Thanks in advance for your assistance and advice.
