I was going to auction some of my wraps on e-bay, but thought maybe I shoud do it here instead... Would that be O.K. with everyone? I only ask bacause my truck has some transmission problems which I have to have fixed ( I am pretty competent at fixing simple things on the truck, but pulling the tranny is beyond me )... .... It looks good, but it don't shift good... It has no reverse and I pretty much have to force it to shift from 1st to 2nd, oh and I have no overdrive ( fancy name for 4th gear ). Unfortunately it is my only vehicle and of course my means to work ( electrician ). I have been livivng paycheck to paycheck for a while now hoping someting like this wouldn't happen.... but alas, it did . Now I had it looked at by a friend of a friend's dad ( um... lets see... yeah, that's right ) who works at a transmission shop and he gave me a low estimate of $500 ($300 if I pull the tranny myself ) if the problem it what he thinks it is ( cracked something-or-other housing, an automatic tranny is magic to me ), otherwise it would be more. I have the money to fix it but unfortunately it is also this months rent... which is my problem. I'm taking the truck in tomorrow after work. I just need to do anything I can right now to raise a little money. Just let me know what you think, and sorry about the story... Chris

I cant speak for anyone else but I certainly dont have any issues with it. Times are tough, and if we can help each other, all the better.

since you are pretty competent at fixing it......but not pulling it.....it might be in your best interest to buy a chilton manual for your truck. should save you money....then you can pull it.....since you already know how to fix it competently. put your items up for sale....folks here dont mind....at least i dont.....kev

cpdad, sorry, I meant fix problems on the truck; alternator, brakes, master cylinder, etc... you know, simple things.... Like I said, an automatic tranny might as well be magic to me .... trust me, I would if I knew where to start

Auto Trannyies are almost as simple as manual ones. Don't be afraid, take it apart on a sheet of plywood, get a Chiltons, put it back together by the book. Add a shift kit while the valve body is out also. Gets better fuel mileage. Auto Trannies are all snap ring. Keep it clean, keep it simple. In and out is even easier. You loosen the torque convertor from underneath the trans. There is a sheet metal cover giving acess to the bolts. Piece of cake. Autos are the easiest to repair.

UUUGGGH trannies are the worse! They've caused me the most grief, at least. More power to the people who say there easy
if you can get it done for 700.00 then I would think that a good deal I bought a rebuilt one for 350.00 and had shop put it in for the same amount working well
good luck with keeping the wheels on the ground !

Yeah, Tran's can be a bitch when they go wrong. A lot of people forget that auto's need to have their fluid changed too and end up killing the trans after years of neglecting to change it. I just upgraded to Castrol Syntec full synthetic oil in my rig which will give me 10000km between oil changes and I upgraded the trans fuid to Mobil-1 Full Synthetic so I won't be looking at a very expensive repair job down the road.
