Joined: Aug 2009 Gender: Male Posts: 35 Location: cape cod ma vibe tumbler « Thread Started Today at 8:24am » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hi all, tried the fix that jspencer suggested, worked like a charm. the tumbler has been running for 2 weeks with no problem. however the shine on my shells does not come close to the shine i get on my rotary, the corn cob sort of leaves a tan powder on everything, is there another media i can use with my shells. the aluminum oxide from the rock shed works great in the rotary, also tried tin oxide in the vibe, same results, sort of a matt shine. i know shells are different than rocks but all you experts surely can come up with a solution for my vibe. the vibe is a lot nicer to my shells as far as breakage and wearing down goes, thats why i would love to get the shine problem solved on the vibe. thanks again for all your help ps am trying to put some pics of my wampum shells on Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=45358#ixzz1N2TO8NWc

I e-mailed you this same question but are you using the Rockshed aluminum with the corn cob? If not try it. If yes, try a really fine aluminum or the Vibra Dry 3000, 25000 and 50000 I suggested in the e-mail. Good luck.

I`ve never tried shells before in any rock tumbler. But having a wife who loves and collects shells I can tell you that for a super shine I have used Johnsons Paste Wax. I don`t know if you could add it to a tumbler and get good results. It sure would make it easier than doing it by hand individually.
