Some Rio Grande pebbles took 45 minutes to do 4.5 pounds on diamond cup. But they will finish in the tumbler soooo much sooner. ;D You did a good job! Can't wait to see them all done and shiny and purdy.

I do a lot of pre-grinding as well, those should turn out perfect

Guys, I'm a BIG fan of pre-grinding but I'm about done with silicon carbide and looking to upgrade to diamond for the pre-grind. Do either or both of you mind putting up a photo of your workshop or even just a quick recommendation of what wheels/set-up you use? Thanks...I'm especially interested to know what "diamond cup" was used to grind all those in just 45 minutes. Double thanks, triple thanks, infinite gratitude if I could increase my working speed.
P.S. Have allergies and am somewhat fanatical about always working "wet."

Nice job! I like to pre-grind as well, but at the low side of the scale and with a Dremel with a flex shaft. It's slow but I find it a very relaxing process.

Looks like you've got some great stuff going there and you've really cut your tumble time with the pregrind! Let us see when you're done!

Instead of pregrinding, these 'mass produced slabs' are very effective way to make nice tumbled mini slabs. The agate pebbles are Rio Grande stuff and they are poured in sandless grout so as not to abrade the saw blade. These photos are early stage of this experiment.Later in the process the saw was cutting over 50 slabs per cut!Let me do a Flicker link www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/sets/72157631927601357/
