No dummy at all - live & learn. Maybe they were just specimen rocks to enjoy, not tumbling rocks One time,on a river trip, I was so excited to find rocks (none where I live) that I carried 2- 5 gallon buckets out through the woods up hill, in the heat, and the bugs & through the poison ivy, only to find out it was Tallahatta SANDSTONE, which just crumbled in my rock saw. Want some ?? Maybe I learned ( probably not!) Patty I don't know how I missed this one the last time. That's hilarious. I hope you didn't have to lug those buckets too far!

There were many rest stops.
It didn't help that along the away, through the woods, I stopped to dig a couple of interesting wild ferns & added them to the bucket .
All in a fun day

Ignore the commentary in the video; I thought it would make more sense just to post it in here rather than in my other thread. I decided I'm going to run a couple through despite their blandness, just to see the end result.

Update: they ground down to boring plain black rocks. Looks like I'm a dummy after all! I won't waste my time trying to ID these, but will remember the tests before the next time I post. I can’t tell you how many times I have thrown some thing in the tumbler just to see what would happen. I did it with a bunch of fossilized coral and sponge once and ended up with a couple of beautiful Montana looking agates. I try to tumble most of the banded chert I find because sometimes, underneath, is a beautiful chunk of chalcedony. But yeah, sometimes rocks just fall apart.
