Newyago County, which is about an hour northwest of Grand Rapids. I'm looking forward to my first Petoskey hunting expedition!

Good luck on your finds, lots of other lookers out there too

LOL I'm hoping that it's not TOO quiet. I've spent the last 40 years in the DC metro area. I do live in a more rural area now, but still only a short drive to VA and then Metro Rail into DC. And, before that a suburb of NYC. I now have family and a couple of friends in Newaygo, and they love it. I'm looking to retire there. But being no more than an hour from DC has it's benefits. I'm afraid the biggest adjustment might be in the availability of news. I know that the Internet makes that less of an issue, but I've grown very used to the "local" news being as much "national" news as what's going on in the suburbs.

My daughter has already mentioned Ludington and that it's a really nice hour drive from her house. She didn't know about Pine River, however.
There are always issues with moving. Other than losing a loved one, I think that it's probably the most stressful thing that we do as humans. This one is complicated by the facts that I am doing it entirely on my own, and that it's a by-product of the break-up of an almost 30 year relationship. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting some bumps.
