My 8-year-old daughter and I have been doing a little tumbling for a couple months with a rotary tumbler. Results have been okay and it was really neat to see some shine on something that we had tumbled! Been reading around and looking at getting a different tumbler and I like the results of the vibratory ones, but the Lot-O is out of stock and I have read about all the quality issues from about a year ago. Not sure if they have the same issues still. Will likely do the Stage 1 in the rotary and then the last 3 stages in the vibratory.
Glad to be here!

I live in Idaho as well. Guess I should have mentioned that. I'm in the Meridian area.

Welcome from Southern Nevada.
It is best to run rocks through at least stage one anyways in a rotary tumbler to remove and sharp edges or points before putting them in the vibratory tumbler.
The vibe tumblers really do put a nice shine on the stones. I have 3 UV-18 tumblers and love them.
Keep in mind that the larger the tumblers the faster the results. So when looking for a rotary, I recommend getting at least a 12 pound if not a 17 pound barrel or larger tumbler.

Would you recommend a Thumler's UV-10 or a Ultra-Vibe 10 for a good started vibratory tumbler?
