Welcome from Minnesota I have a hi-tech trim saw and it's a beast, so I'm not sure where you heard they don't last. Mine is going on 5 years now. As far as my 10" saw thats an oldie HP and it's also a beast. I really recommend joining a local clubs, looking at craigslist, FB marketplace, and auctions. If I were to get another, I'd get am older model NDK built one and it's pretty dang cool too

You can buy a new tile saw at Loews or Home depot for around #100.

Welcome from Washington state. I have seen many Youtubers using a tile saw and wet grinder with great results. I do not have recommendations for either, sorry. Working outdoors does have its limitations in Michigan.

Hold the phone! The more I think about it, the more I'm just not sure going "cheap" is the way to go anymore (referring to tile saw and hand polishing). Plus, I don't know how long my 80 year old hands could stand up to holding a hand polisher in my lap. I did just find out that my 2023 tax refund will be bigger than I anticipated. So...I'm once again looking at getting a 10" trim/slab saw. So many "reviews" online rate the Hi Tech 6 and 10 inch saws as the best, and I've only seen one forum member here state that he has had a positive experience with one. It seems like it's next to impossible to find older, well built models of any good saws so it looks like I'm being forced to buy new. I won't live forever, but I'd like to get something that won't break or require constant replacing of parts either. I understand that may mean paying more initially, but what choice do I have? I apologize for reopening my original inquiry, but I really need to rely on your experienced knowledge and answers. For this I am grateful! Thank so much.

Get something with a rock clamp to make smooth cuts. I'm 87 and out of the game.

Maybe you should post your saw questions under "Lapidary Equipment" so more people see your post
