Hey I like the new format Mark! Haven't been around much and I'm a wee bit lost, but the new sections are definitely positive change! ;D

Love the new board, Mark, it's dandy knowing where to go just for tumbling info!
Exellent site overall, too; easy to use, easy to read, good colors, simple to navigate, no horribly intrusive advertising... seen a million boards and this one is damn well made.

Hi, I'm a newbie, so hello. You probably can help me with a simple question. How do I post a new topic? I cannot see a place that starts a new post. I went to RTH Chat Room 1. It seemed to be a different site. Is there a Post A Topic place somewhere? There must be, but I can't find it. thank you, racoon

racoon- when you are logged in, go to a specific forum and look at the right side of the forum header bar- "new thread" would be the ticket here;

Hi any advice on tumbling or polishing corundum (without using diamond). The coarse and fine grit silicon carbide smoothed the pebbles, but the aluminum oxide did not polish them. I understand that corundum is aluminum oxide, but would a very fine grit silicon carbide do the job?

HI, I just realized that I have joined this forum twice. Once in 2005 and then again in July of 2008. I don't know how to delete the latter member profile. Please help. Thank you. Jean

Hello Mark, The changes made are great! Anytime you can quickly go to what you are looking for is appreciated. Concernin sawing, it would be nice to break this down further:perhaps something like slab sawing basics, rough slabs, polished slabs, name this slab, (for unknown variety), etc. for a start! Thanks!

A lot of great ideas here! I like the thought of coming here and learning jewelry making, or find an answer to anything tumbling, or wire wrapping etc. A simple "how to" on some of the more common machines we use, i.e. trim saws, slab saws, gravity saws, diamond drills, flat laps, grinders, etc. One of the posts i read said something about foreign and American stones...I agree. I had a stone from France that I had all sorts of trouble with it. Just like the French Military and their rifles....I kept dropping it on the ground and throwing my arms up!! Go figure!

I was gone from the board for awhile but on my return I found no problem navigating the changes. Like I never left. Thank's Mark.

I adore this board. I have learned so much in a little time. I am a wire wrapper who has just started cutting and polishing. I have a tumbler and vibe, but have no idea what saw(s) to buy. A separate board on sawing would be great for me.

lizmom, try the "Slabs And Saws" page. Post any saw questions there and you will get more information than you want.
