Ok, here we go, cabs 11-13. I worked 5 hours for 3 cabs, that is more than my attention span could take, so I had to get some good shopping in later in the day. This is a chrysacolla, azurite, quartz, mix that may have been sent to Tonyterner by Jamie, it was the size of Texas, now its the size of Rhode Island, Tony's daughter named it "The World", it does look "earth like". The colors are very brillant and bright. This is pink elephant stone that I ordered from great slabs. Again tricky material for a novice, the black areas were crumbly and the pink areas hard as a rock I wasn't sure how to frame what I had, I want to try this material again, because I really like the colors. Perhaps slamming it to the ground to trim it wasn't the best method for framing? ?? This is a piece of crazy lace I got from Stoner when I met him in CA in July. Ed, I never thought I would be cabbing the beautiful things you had sent for Tony. I love crazy lace, it hides so many imperfections, and this is a beautiful one, my favorite of the day. Then when I was done, I dropped it on the concrete, I was so glad it didn't break. 2 more are forthcoming, I need a little fine tuning on them. ;)I tried to listen to all you experts and take my time and work more on the shapes and girdles. I enjoy the commentary because it echos in my head while I am working. Cabbing is difficult, I say it every time, it really stresses me, but when I end up with a cab like that crazy lace, it all seems worthwhile.

The crazy lace is really really pretty. Its the best shape you've done so far (but I know you have a better one almost finished). The darn process is so intoxicating. You are working really hard at it and your patience is paying off. Nice cabs Amber.

You were able to put a great shape on that crazy lace and I agree with Tony, the cab is gorgeous. Very nice job on the other two cabs.

They are all beautiful. The World is a perfect name for that Chrysocolla. It is such a beautiful stone. WTG on that second one. Especially since it is of mixed hardness. You did a super job on that. The lace is gorgeous but that second one is most impressive considering the challenge it presented.

Amber, Your progress is really showing in these cabs especially the crazy lace! The thrill of completing a great cab only gets greater. A warning though..... you won't drop the cab while you are working on it...only after you finish it will it slip from your grasp, hit the floor and chip or break! Its the law of maximum damage occurring when something goes wrong. Keep up the great work! Bob

Perhaps slamming it to the ground to trim it wasn't the best method for framing? ?? OMG chocolate milk came out of my nose! OMG that is too funny - however, been there, done that too! Cabbing IS difficult - from one time to the next, I forget how to get the dome right (that must be CRS!) but it is so rewarding when you see the final product & fondle it with your fingers and rub it against your cheek... What??

Nice cabs Amber! <My fav is the Crazy Lace...it's sahpe is unique and the design in the stone itself is very nice. I know your're not alone at dropping finished cabs. I dropped a cab Sands sent to me...a very nice B.O. cab...and it broke right in half. Not 2 seconds after I was holding it. I felt like a dork...but Sands was able to fix it right back up for me. I've done it with a few of mine since then as well.... You're doing a wonderful job...Tony has done well. Steve

Thanks everyone for the kind words and encouragement, I am so debating getting a machine, I just need to feel like I can do it, and stay focused long enough to justify the cost. It is so addictive this hobby, and the thrill is really there when something turns out well, and then you drop it, hahaha, I need to cab in a padded cell! Tweetie: What is CRS??? And where are you rubbing those stones? ?? I think it is true what Bobby wrote me a while back, that using good material makes a real difference, I am done with the ebay crap. I've spent way too much on stuff I don't even like, I would rather buy on-line from the fellow cabbers here, who stand behind the materials they sell.

Yep, the lace is great! YOu are doing well. MIght I suggest a nice alpaca throw to put the arbor on so's as to not break the finished goodies when they drop Suggest that to Tony and see what he says, lol. Kind of a Christmas gift to the arbor T

What a great job on them all but...I love the lace too!
Cabbing in a cell, shoot I would never even know I was in prison. Wait a minute!!! That is a new rehabilitation idea. I bet Texaswoodie would teach the classes.

Hey Amber,
That Crazy lace may be your favourite of the day, but it's my favourite of the month! Wowwee that's a cool cab! You got it going on there all-right! Truly magnificent!
Your other rocks, are rockin' too, but that Lace is out-of-sight! Thanks for making me smile! ;D ;D
Cheers,
Sparkles.
