Mark - I don't think you'll find Doc in Alaska. I think he's in Floriduh where the palms sway gently in the breeze and the bugs are as big as your....well... foot. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) Susan

hmm if shipping abraod is anywhere as diffucult as shipping business related stuff into the country ( im still trying to set up contacts in india and china) i would say keep it to canada and mabye the U.K.
the more i think about it a board and auction site would be great. more people to spread the bug to and more contacts for all of us.
i say realistically 5% is a fair price for listing, if we get our own payments and such if the board odes it on credit cards 10 to 15 % is more likely though (chargebacks hassles etc)

Generally - I take things easy and am quite slow at getting things going.
Ok - a friend I work with 100% of the time is coming over from Australia on the 31st August. He has a dude who writes quite fast in a language called .ASPX - which I havent had a dabble with yet - although the main site is equipt to handle it already.
.APSX is an extension of .ASP which I know already - so it wouldnt be a hard thing to learn and I shelled out 600 UK pounds recently on .ASPX licenceing so I have the kit aswell.
ASPX files are the foundation for -
The online order form The online catalogues Including a photo store database and regional "depository" descriptor which Im designing now.
I would like to pay my friends friend (Gavin) to do this programming whilst I design the logistics behind it and also work on the Merchant Account which I will need for the credit card transactions.
The main site can be equiped with taking credit card transactions to my bank account fairly easily at around 50 US dollars per month for the service.
I would seriously advise members to start buiding photo libraries of what you want to sell.
jpgs of stock.
Then - as I prepare the sales pages I can talk more to you about how to structure your catalogues with pricing info alongside the pictures - so that it fits in with the ordering page.
If you guys who want to sell stuff want to start talking "flat rate" boxes and shipping etc - and build up picture libraries in the background - I'll be doing the rest no worries.
UK - UK shipping US - US shipping
Is mostly what I am going to organise - however if a UK order comes through for rough from a location in the US - then the customer will already know the cost.
Likewise - if a US customer wants to order some "Blue John" from a UK supplier (for example me) - then thats no problem either - but the shipping costs are a dear do.
Ok - thats the story sofar - but I like this Gavin dude - hes done work for us before and I trust him to do a good job to "spec".
Mark.

All - in summary - for the mo can you start taking photos of stock you'd like to sell.
Thats what the database will require whatever we do - so a good stock of pics is essential.
An auction site is also a possibility.
Either way - good stock pics are absolutely essential.
