Is it me, or has anyone else been running into problems when googling something these days? I get a second line under the main link saying "This site may harm your computer". When you click the main link, you can't get to the site, google sends you to a page that goes nowhere... I have been noticing more marketing trash coming up in google search results, but does this mean that google is attempting to police their links? And can they do it in any kind of efficient way???

It wasn't happening last night, but it's happening today for me. It threw up a block on a wickipedia response! And their reasoning? Because over 90 days ago they reported something that might have been suspicious.
I can't get anywhere off of Google right now without copying and pasting the link!

Ugh! Now when I copy and paste the link into my search bar, the search bar even tells me there's a problem... and I'm using Mozilla!

WHOA!!!!I knew I should have posted something but I was "busy" with stuff and things! You are being infected by a very insidious virus! You are getting your first glimpses. And like a virus it will soon attempt to block you from wherever you are trying to legitimately visit. This is the "Antivirus 360" virus. It has been going around for a few months now. It is capable of finding very tiny holes in your anti-viral programs so even though we might think we are protected, we're not! There are new software packages that can protect but they cost $$$. After much searching - and what Bob and I thought was the successful eviction of this virus from my computer - I found a free download that can safely remove the virus from a computer. Here's the link I used: www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-antivirus-360 I clicked on this line on that page and followed the steps. How to remove Antivirus 360 (Uninstall Instructions) It only took about 20 minutes to get my computer clean again! BTW: The despicable creators of this virus have very cleverly figured out how to make it look like a legitimate warning message from your facepage of whatever server or most popular site you use. One "clue" that there is an over-write to your page. This might show up in the upper left corner of the page: id=sd I hope this helps. It was driving me crazy that I kept getting blocked. I even fired off a nasty message to Google -and it wasn't Google's doing!! Good luck! Kate

BTW, I just used google again and its working fine. Could this have just been a temporary problem with them?

Kate, Im not sure how this can be correct? I am running a Linux based laptop.........no Windows and I am having the same results as others. Shannon BTW, I just used google again and its working fine. Could this have just been a temporary problem with them? Shannon That is what makes this virus so insidious... The designer has very cleverly made it appear and then disappear and then reappear...just like a little worm popping up out of the apple!!! I don't know anyone else who is using the Linux system, Shannon, but if the creep who designed this figured out how to invade IE and Firefox and PC and Mac, "he" can invade anything! I first noticed a pop-up back in November. It didn't get out of hand until this past week. I use Internet Explorer. My husband hasn't seen it on Firefox but I know people who have. My daughter's business computers -Mac's- have been hit. The virus has been traced backwards to a very tiny country - but this jerk could be setting up in NYC!!! It's not a glitch. It's nasty. Kate

Here's another link, a Youtube link. I've searched alot of stuff on this and I think Kate may be right.
I do remember that popup in Nov, telling me my computer was infected and then it automatically started loading. I tried to stop it and ended up having to just shut down my computer in the middle of it. Lately, I've been getting alot of Java, active x problems, and my browser has been running real slowly... I'm going to run the Malwarebytes cleaner.

What I was experiencing isn't an actual pop-up. Rather, google just stopped me going to the site, redirecting me to a page warning me that the site was bad news. It was still on google, so I don't think I was infected. Here's the official problem: www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?answer=45449&topic=13929Only, every site I tried to visit through Google was labeled as unsafe. I'd say they had a bug earlier!

Yep, I ran the fix too. Everything running smoothly.
Akansan, that what was happening to me too. Although I did get two ads that popped up... even though I have popups blocked. A link from your page suggests running the Malwarebytes utility (Kate's Link), it may be a good idea to run it just to be safe.

I had the 360 anti-virus virus last week. Instead of cleaning it, I just said the heck with it and bought a new computer. My old one was a dinosaur, I had it for at least 8 years. lol .... this new one is fast!!

I'd say they had a bug earlier! THAT is exactly what Antivirus 360 does. It makes it look like the problem is with Google; or Yahoo; or RTH; or whatever site it is using to finagle its way further and further into your computer. Google isn't telling you something is unsafe. The Virus is...so you will embrace the virus to fix the virus; thus, completing the 360!! It's been too many years since I was actively involved in designing web pages but little flickers of memory still spark. It was when I noticed the little id=sd and a very faint line arround the Google Tips "box" that I realized I was looking at code. Google is a magnificent search engine but it is not a portal. The Antivirus attaches to SEs so it can widen the wormhole in your portal. From a purely technical perspective, this is a brilliant virus design. It's like an ad that is currently playing out on television in which the spokeswoman tells the viewers that they should definitely pay the asking price because the product is worth it!!! But there is no proof that the product works!! Just her say so. (It's like hearing that 9 out of 10 "experts" recommend something. What you aren't told is that only 10 "experts were asked and nine of them are employed by the product maker! -- You know...Truth in advertising!!! Anyone remember Joe Namath and his ads for women's pantyhose? He eventually had to wear the pantyhose because of the claims he made in the ad!!! ;D Now celebrities are much more careful about endorsing products -at least HERE in the US. the same restrictions/public protections do not necessarily exist in other countries! Studying and teaching in the advertsing industry was an incredible experience for me...very much eye-opening. I learned all kinds of ways to get people to do or buy or use what they didn't think they wanted to!!! Of course, as a Physical Therapist, I already knew countless ways to get people to do things they didn't want to do, and moreover they did it in reps of ten, three times a day!!!!) Antivirus 360 tells the user...you have a virus and the site you are trying to visit could be harmful. And so you think: "OH NO! I don't want to get a virus!" and get duped into downloading the VIRUS!!! Catch 22 catches 22!!! You might not be able to fool all of the people all of the time, but Antivirus 360 is doing a damn good job of pushing the envelope!!! Kate

What Kate said is exactly what I did, and realized it as soon as it was too late. At first I thought it was MY antivirus telling me that I had a virus, and if I "click here" this will get rid of it. The damn window actually said "AntiVirus 360" but of course I hadn't heard about a virus going around by this name so I clicked on it. It ruined my day let me tell ya! But, I got a new computer out of the deal that's like lightning!
