Yes, Jo, my half of the 2 car garage is for rocks. I already have most of them moved over there.
My roommate (Clint) knew about "pebble picker" rockhounds, but had never realized that there are "pro" hounds. I explained that we're sort-of a "rare breed", but that it's one of those "somebody has to do it" things.
Yesterday, I met a local lady who's a rockhound, we talked a bit, and she wants to go hounding some time. She seems to be an experienced Pebble-Picker, and the look on her face was priceless when I told her that the daily goal is to fill the truck to "capacity" LMAO. The COOL thing is that she's fairly familiar with The Kingston Range, about an hour south of here, which is primarily known to rockhounds for Quartz and Amethyst crystals. She's been down there a few times, and although I've yet to go down there, I have done extensive research of the area. In general, my research has yielded very good results compared to just "poking around" (as Steve experienced with the agate we found), so perhaps her experience in the area combined with my research information could make the trip worthwhile.

Good to hear!! I was wondering about the internet access thing and how you were going to sell rocks without it. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger!! But still, Let us know if we can do anything................Tony

It looks like it will all work out. I sure hope a job will come through for you soon and then you will be on an uphill road. Sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned and I hope you find some great goodies as well as some wonderful friendships! Remember to go easy on your new room mate. He could go into shock from the amount of rocks but constant explaining and showing should help. Who knows, he may become a rockhound too! Fran

MJ,
I am really glad to hear things are looking up for you. I only wish I had not been away from the forum for the better part of the last few weeks as I moved out of my house so I could have been part of the PIF. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any rocks you list and try to grab some. Wishing you well.
Phil

Yay! So glad things are looking up, MJ! All you needed was a little push to get you over the hill.

Thank you all for your warm wishes! The future is definately looking MUCH brighter!
My internet access gear should be transferred-over today. The puter is all set-up and waiting for it LOL.
I have five FRBs to box-up and mail out today (...another man's gold), then tomorrow I can get new stuff up for sale here and start focusing on selling Selenite. The rain we've recently had here is done, and it's supposed to get warmer through the week, so I'm hoping to be out hounding in a few days. First up is the "Indian Paint Rock" (?) in a wash out by The Blue Mule.
Next week: "real job" hunting ...

Another update ...
I'm all moved-in to my new place, and I finally have internet service, so I'm ready-to-rock again. It'll take me a few days to get caught-up here, answering IMs, sending-out Thank You's, reading posts, etc, but it's sure great to be in a position to do all of that, and I owe that to all of you. Thank you.

Hey MJ, Some of your rocks might make great "pizza looking" cabs that could be sold at the pizza shop! Helping you helped me more than it possibly could have helped you. Sharing during hard times means a lot more than when it's easy. Big Hugs from Florida, Susan
