Looking good. I like the one from the serpentine group, pretty colors. The last one is another fav, I'm betting it came from Shannon, I'm sure she can tell you if she sent it, she has all her rocks memorized. lol

Unless she's having a senior moment... Have so many great colors and patterns in that Serpentine that I've found recently, just can't get to working it all, but they look promising. One thing about working with Serpentine though-- gotta wear breathing protection. Contains asbestos.

Jo, I almost missed this thread. See what happens when I work long hours! I think they all look fantastic but that last one WOW! You are right about the breathing protection and it can't be stressed enough, especially if you are working any of the chrysocolas, serpentine, even quartz has the silicate dust that can cause scaring on your lungs. When in doubt, wear an asbestos mask. Fran

I hope that this isn't a hyjack but . . . I thought if you were cutting or grinding using water that you didn't have to wear a mask. So this isn't true? Please advise, as I've been using my Workforce saw & haven't used a dust mask; I have noticed that the back of my throat would feel weird afterwards. Any response would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Don

Thanks Tony, Fran, Mary Ann, Nate and Don!
Don, not a problem at all. Yes, water does keep down dust, however, as Fran said, the water mist and spray can carry tiny particles of rock material such as asbestos and silica. It is best to use a mask. Randy wrote about breathing protection a few months ago and did a very good job. I asked him to dig it up for us and repost/reference it here. Reminders like this can't be posted too often!

Really nice Jo! I like that unusual serpentine. Hard to polish as you've said, but I still think stones in that group are pretty neat......Mel

Thanks! I slabbed a bunch with some awesome colors and patterns-- They had a real abstract art kinda look to them. I really should show and tell. I'll take pics tomorrow.

Ha! I just now noticed this thread. dum-de-dum-dum!
I really like your shapes, Jo - it looks like all but maybe 2 of them are freeforms. Nice stones. I like the moonstone because it's "different", but I think if I ever saw any moonstone "live", I would start liking it a bunch more. I understand it sparkles and flashes different colors?

Hi Tom, The moonstone I collect has coloring from the Microcline in the area but there is also some sunstone, as well as many other minerals. It has a flash that varies so much from stone to stone. Gold, silver, some pink and ?. I'm always amazed and never bored with it. It works up nicely, although it can be tricky once in a while with its layered nature, it's worth any babying. Did you ever see the video I posted? Here it is so you can see it in action.

Jo, The forms you did sure compliment the patterns in the stones - hard to pick a fav. The video makes me want to get some of this flashy stuff for my collection. Do you have any raw you would like to sell or trade? Karock

Wow - I just saw the video. The flashes look almost holographic! Very cool. I just might have to see can I find some moonstone to buy eBay one of these days!

Tom and Karock, I do have slabs, cabs for wrapping, and wraps for sale on my website www.gnomesandnuggets.com (in my signature line). If you buy, I do throw in a few extras. If you do not see anything you like, or are looking for something in particular, let me know and I'll put more up on the site. Thanks! Jo

Julie:
(1) I didn't even know you had a web site - it's really neat! I guess I just never noticed the URL in your sig.
(2) I added one of the moonstone slab selections to the shopping cart
BUT THEN .....
(3) I couldn't figure out how to check out!
Color me stupid, but kindly give me a clue how to get to the shopping cart and/or check out?
Tom

Ok, I'll send you a PM and if need be, we'll walk through it together.
But, if you want to try this: You go to the top of the page and there should be a "View Cart/Checkout" in blue under the Search Box. That should take you to PayPal.
