Oh man, I am speechless! They are all stunning. I particularly like the Horse Canyon and the mounted moss agate. Wher are those mounts from? They compliment the stones very nicely.

 Oh my Gosh-Dangit.... ...My eyes have popped my ear infection out! Thanks Dan! I'm feeling much better...although it's quite a ghastly sight to behold here. ;D Love the Bat Cave, and the Bat is too cool!!! I still really like the shape of #2...that's becoming one of my favs to free-form. I thought the Bat Cave was gonna steal the show, than the Horse Canyon Moss hit me with a BLOW to the Noggin'! All Wonderfully Magnificent! Love your Stuff Dan. Steve

Outstanding material. I'm always glad to see what you show on here. Just for curiosity, does anyone else notice on the backlit Horse Canyon Moss agate what appears to be a well endowed lady near the center of the cab? Appears to me to be topless, but maybe my minds just in the gutter. ;D ;D ;D

Dan - wow - those are all luscious looking. I like how you cut the stone to capture the pattern - that must take a lot of practice, and a really good eye!

I've been looking forward to seeing your work in Imperial Jasper and it doesn't disappoint. I haven't seen much of it that has depth to it like your candy striper. The veils in the first Horse Canyon are really evocative, too. I used to dream of 14'ers and now I'm dreaming of caves in Oregon!!! Thanks again. Shine on (you crazy diamond).

Where are those mounts from? They compliment the stones very nicely. Mike The bottom two mounts are from Rio Grande. I have a hard time recommending them though. I bought a large pack of them, but their casting is out of eccentricity. The oval bulges at the "corner." I had to create my own template, then slowly back bevel the stones to fit. The clasps also break if you are not real gentle with them. The first setting I bought at the Portland Regional and fits a Gem Template drawn stone perfectly.

What is there to say other than you use fantastic material and work it better than anyone else. Love that Bat Cave bat. That Bat Cave takes the best shine of any material I've worked. Never heard of psilomene plume before, very pretty. That first Horse Canyon is insane.

Wow! Your cabs are wonderful. I can never achieve those smooth lines and fantastic polish. Just too friggin old and shaky I guess *L*. Love the Bat cave too but I've got to say, that is one dynamite cab of Horse Canyon too. I've hunted there and pieces that nice were not common at all.....Mel

Yes, all the comments pretty much cover it. That bat cave is very beautiful material. Your work is outstanding and I always am excited to see a new post from the Drifter!

Dan: Looking at your wonderful cabs brings a question to mind. I notice in your pics that I never even see a glimpse of a bezel. My Genie, when I got it years ago, came with a bezel block out of plastic that when I use it creates a bezel that is not perpendicular to the face of the stone but rather slants back at a slight angle so the base of the stone is actually a bit larger than the face of the stone before I start to cut the crown. I always figured this was to facilitate mounting in factory settings but since I'm self taught, am I assuming wrong? Since I can never see a bezel on your stones in your pics, I'd assume your bezels are either perpendicular or even undercut so the top is larger than the base. Is this so? I'd really like to achieve the kind of quality you turn out ( probably impossible *L*) and am still learning....Mel

Great material and workmanship on all of them! Hard to pick a favorite, but I really like the second and third bat cave cabs.

Dan: I didn't think you could make your cabs any more superior than they are, but holy crap! You even lured me from mafia wars! Those bat caves are so cool, and that horse canyon is my fav, is it possibly they are even more shiny than before? ?? Man these are killer, love the imperial, and the psilomene plume, I love that stuff but it is a freaking mess to cab! Beautiful post!!! Amber
