It is not in the rear view mirror. This is like a bad sci fi. We are rushing to it. Anyone notice the fuel prices lately? Oil is actually down, fuel is up. That is not like it was before. Something is different. Something wicked this way comes, and it started this year.

Vance: I know we're never going to agree on much but man you so do not get it. Mass. has state run health care that totally blows and has bankrupted the state. The election was a referendum on Obamacare because the very last thing the residents of Mass. want is another f**ked up healthcare mess in addition to the one they already have. Or maybe your biased mainstream news stations missed that little story? Since you are plainly extremely misinformed, I suggest you turn off your "majority" leftist news stations and watch the real news for a few months. Maybe if you take four hours of Fox news and go to bed, you'll wake up cured *L*....Mel

Spending Freeze? You mean spending froze to the current level, largest increase in the deficit in history. Does that mean more "stimulus" pork?

I have a shock for you, Mel. I read the Faux news every single day. Unlike you, I read both sides of the news so I can really know what is going on. I spend hours reading on the internet, I read Newsweek and other news magazines every week and listen to news programs on the t.v. and radio all the time. That's why "I get it" and you obviously don't. You have your head buried so far up the extreme right news that you wouldn't know a balanced and fair news report if it bit you in the butt. Maybe you can try reading something other than the asinine rightist propaganda you wallow in and learn what is really going on in the U.S. for once in your life.

Vance: Wow, I could of course say the same thing about your head and your preferred news sources. I do read and view other news forms and stations, including some of the nauseating lefty biased outfits and I figure I'm pretty fair at sorting out the BS too. I'm pretty cynical about all news media. Even you should be able to agree the mainstream TV and newspapers show a lot of progressive or leftist bias. ( Or wait, I think you said once you think they're more biased for the right to as they have more right wing writers). Believe it or not, I agree with you that much of the Fox content is filtered to fit a rightist political viewpoint. I just happen to agree with many of their viewpoints. Like I said, it really doesn't matter what the source is, you and I will just never agree on which particular piece of information is the BS *L*. That's the problem with true believers. No matter what you say, I expect that if a news bite came from Fox you'd question it and investigate it whereas, I'd be the one to question CNN. We're just members of different tribes *L*...Mel

Hey Vance/Mel - don't know if you saw the thread I started a month or two back. But I really like the Week. It pulls articles and opinions from both left and right, national and international. Most of the articles are summarized, but you get the gist and can usually find the full articles online if you're interested. Nice format and pretty balanced in my opinion.

Thanks, Toad. I just checked it out and you can get four issues for free before paying a subscription. I will look at those four and see what I think.

Yeah, you are right, Mel. I do believe that the television media overall is left biased, but there is definitely some bias with some stations. And yes, you and I will probably never agree on most political issues, so I guess we will just have to represent the opposite ends of the spectrum. I do share your cynicism of the media, though, both printed and television. I tend to question just about everything I hear. I think a healthy dose of doubt is a good thing, too.
