I just bought 100 kg of tumble sized lapis from Pakistan. It's NOT grade AA but it's not bad. Some pieces are large enough to cab even if you have fat fingers. I can get a little over a kilo - 2.5 lbs in a baggie and put it in a small FRB (video box) for $20 as a sample size. If you don't like it, you can send it back and I will refund your initial cost ($20). I can sell it by the medium FRB for $16 a kilo - minimum 5 kilo - postage included. Same guarantee as above - I'll refund your initial cost if you send it back. When I post pictures (tomorrow for the sample size) you will be able to get a good idea of the quality of this rock. The pictures will be taken wet. I will have a link to a hi-res photo so you can get in real close. Thanks, Lee

Dang Lee, I wish I had it right now. Even the grade B is good stuff! I have tumbled the stuff from Chili and that does well also but you can't beat the Pakistani stuff! I am looking forward to the pictures! Fran

The pictures here are representative of all the lapis I have and are the actual pieces in the first sample box. First dry - Then wet - Then a link to a higher res image - www.certifiedrockhound.com/images/lapis/lapis1lrg.jpgAs you can see, there is some good stuff mixed in. I am not high grading this first 50 kilos...taking rock straight from bag to bucket to baggies. My buddy (who imported this) is selling this on Ebay for $15 a lb. He actually put a 25 gram parcel up and got a $12 bid for it. I'm not saying the buyers are smart or not, but they are buying at this price. Any questions? Thanks, Lee

Decided it didn't need a recharge. I reduced about 50% volume after a week in 60/90 and my barrel was full of foam. I'll start another batch today (have to get enough for a full batch in my UV -10) Picture taken indoors with flash - blues are darker in person - and a link to a larger pic - www.certifiedrockhound.com/images/lapis/lapistumble1lg.jpg

Lee: I got a baggie of this out of the traveling rock box, it is pretty nice, there are a few pieces large enough to cab, this is a pretty good deal, less than $8/pound for your deal

If anyone is still following this.... I put a couple batches through my 12 lb rotary so as to get enough for my UV 10. Found out that the UV 10 will make a slurry and reduce size all the way through AO polish. I ran it in AO for a couple days...didn't like the shine...borax burnish and 2 days in TO...didn't like the polish...borax burnish and a week in CO...still not perfect after the borax burnish, but here's the result (wet) And a larger pic www.certifiedrockhound.com/images/lapistumble1polishlg.jpg

Mine is still tumbling in the 120-220 (starting the 3rd week and 2nd grit change). I only ran it in the 60-90 for a week because I didn't want to loose too much mass. I have to open it every 4- 5 days to burp the barrel. I had forgotten to put some baking soda in with the mix so I may do that today to cut down on the natural gasses. It has helped in the past when I tumbled lapis. Your batch looks pretty nice Lee! Fran

Hello Lee,
If you still have a smaple box left, I would be very interested in taking a look at the material. I more of a cabber than a tumbler but I still tumble enough to keep my wife in wrapping material.
Thanks,
Bob
