just make sure the blade is submerged in oil approx. 1/2"-3/4" on the blade. If you go any more you better have a cover on the saw.

I use mineral oil in my saw. It has no smell and makes my hands soft too. I get 5 gallons for $75.00. I might check into that tractor hydralic oil. I don't know if there is a tractor supply around here though. Not farm country.
I have put rocks in my oil to displace it, but it just makes a big mess of the rocks. So I opted to just put more oil and no rocks. It is easier to clean up without rocks. The more I put in the more I get back when I strain it. So it evens out.
