Neat, I'd like to know that too!
I don't even know who runs this board. I'd like to ask if there's a possibility of suggesting a banner for the site, and if so what size? Would be nice to put something together for this wonderful place.

I'm sorry but I guess I don't know Mark. Would like to introduce myself to the person responsible for this wonderful community! And Eileen, I love your site and the work you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you like to adopt me as your student? I'd love to learn how you make such wonderful items. Those trees are just amazing. And you use the nicest looking "pots" to plant them in, they all remind me of those beautiful little Bonzai trees.

I'm flattered I do have a tutorial on RTH, but it isn't as in depth as I would have liked it. I'm in the process of redoing a far more extensive version that I will post on my web site. However, the basic wire wrapping is not something that I will provide a tutorial on. The reason for that is because I learned it from a book put out by Sal Villano and it just wouldn't be right if I infringed on his copyrights. His book is available as a PDF download now, directly from his site: www.salvillano.com/I have a slightly different methodology now, which is what I go into in my tutorials. Most of my "pots" are slabs I've gotten from many of the people on here. I even bought a huge box of picasso stone and a 30# block of serpentine which stonesthatrock slabbed for me. Hoping I can convince her to do that again for me in the future. I'm almost out of both, ack. Eileen

Nice work and that Sal is a real artist, love the Bonsai he has on his web page!!! I agree! He is amazing, Robin. I don't even remember how I found his site except that I know I was looking at gemstone trees on eBay and wondering how they were attached to the rocks. Googled and found Sal's site. There is one bonsai he has that just AMAZES me: And this is the one that inspired me to put gemstones on mine: I did try to carve a few and wire them on the way he did here, but I just could not make it work. Even if I did make the wiring work, there was no way I was going to carve each leaf, though. That would take forever. Eileen

Mark started the board (he lives in England if I remember correctly) and used to be on quite a bit but then his son was born and he got caught up in life. He is on here some but mostly keeps an eye on everything. I checked on him a month or so ago and he is doing great! I do miss him but Sands is his sidekick and helps him take care of things.

Yes, Andy started this board to help rockhounds who wanted to bring out the beauty of rocks by tumbling them. Most of us who were on the board early on remember when this board was just for tumbling and there weren't any pics yet. Then when the board started to get going, Andy fessed up to being Mark. Like Sheri said, he used to tumble quite often and post here with us, but life got in the way. This board has never really needed a moderator because rock people are the best Damn people on this huge rock we call home. Over the years it has grown to what it is now and I'm proud to say I was here from early on and have made some very good friends and had some of the best times with some of them.
So if you're looking who to thank for such a great meeting place, the man is Mark, the creator of the Rock Tumbling Hobby website, and all of you who have made this board the best place on the internet to talk rocks!!!!!
