I am so glad we are not getting stuck in another quamire in Libya. Iraq and Afghanistan are two messes that are bringing down our economy and we don't need another. I'm shocked the UN has approved a no fly zone...seems so contrary to their usual indecision. I think Obama has played them the right way. I like him keeping his priorities in the USA. Let some others take the lead on this issue, we have enough on our plates for now.
I certainly feel bad for the Libyan people and would love to remove him but, as we've seen with our misadventures against other badmen like Saddam and Osama, it is just not as easy as it may seem. Superior force does not always triumph over superior will.

Hmmm. I have the news on right now and the government is saying we are going to get involved with the no fly zone and such though the Brits are offering to take the lead. I suspect we'll again be in another friggin war but hopefully, this one will not take forever ( ala quagmire) as we flat cannot afford to war another war.....Mel

Japan is crumbling, the Middle East is on fire, the US is stagnant and our fearful leader is going to Rio this week. Yet another $500,000 vacation. Hope he has fun.

The same thing that always happens, we join in with other countries to help them fight and then they leave with the US in full force. We will feel the brunt of this one too, I'm afraid!

No doves in this household. All hawks. Bomb him back to the stone age, then send Obama to lead their country. He'll make sure they remain a 3rd. rate country.

So The presidents handlers have advised him on what just the right amount of hawkishness looks like for the campaign. Anyone notice his imaginary move to the right? Oh well, with people like Palin Newt and Trump being paraded out there as front runners for the R's I'm about ready to hunker down for another 4 years of Obama. Let the middle east to their own, as long as they keep focused on just killing each other.

You know, if Our rulers had a lick of common sense, they'd figure saving one bunch of aholes who despise us and our way of life from another bunch of aholes that despise us and our way of life is a stupid activity. Would be better to grab a beer, sit in our Barker loungers and happily watch them slaughter each other. But then, our rulers like, to look all John Wayney, pic a side, save that side, arm that side and then sit around and watch them happily screw us over a few years later. Some dumbasses just never learn. On another note: How about those French? Getting all cowboyed up and finally sprouting a pair after all those vagina sporting years....Mel

Ya, the French will sprout a pair until they loose a jet, or a couple of their troops. Then they'll turn tail and run. Guess who'll end up running this mess ?

As for not getting involved or, taking the lead, WHO fired the 120 Cruise missles that cost over 1 mil. each ?
WHO is paying that bill ?
I believe it's time the U N Nations stopped wringing their hands and whining and got off their collective ass and helped shoulder the load !
We are not the only country in the group capable of setting this Camels A$$ on the right path, ARE WE ?
Looks like a clear cut case of :
Here we go AGAIN !

Do ya think we'd be there (in Libya) at all if they didn't have oil?
The problem with "getting involved" in Libya or anywhere else is that we don't let the Military do it's job!We give them a set of rules to follow that are called "Rules of Engagement" which (to me) is nonsense! Politically correct and war just DO NOT go together and it has been proved time and time again that when politicians tell the Generals how to fight a war,,,,,,,,we LOOSE it! Even though there are conflicting reports of why General Douglas MacArthur was fired by Truman ,I believe he was fired because he wanted to drop an Atomic bomb on China. General George S. Patton ,was said to have died in an accident.but there are theories that he was assassinated because he wanted to do away with Russia.
If these 2 great fighting men had had their way we wouldn't be in the state we are in now with China and Russia.
Obama (and any other politician) telling Generals how to fight wars is like some idiot reading a book on how to ice skate and thinking he/she can!
My next door neighbor is a Combat Field Medic and has been to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. She has been shot twice because of following "Rules of Engagement" and says it's like fighting with you hands tied behind you back! She is now on 75 days Leave prior to going back to Afghanistan and is disgusted with the idea of fighting as we have been,,,,politically correct!
This once Great Country is being laughed at because of being Politically Correct and it is because of this that we WILL fall!
The fighting in Libya CAN NOT be done with aircraft and missiles alone. There MUST be ground troops involved and I don't mean just the "spotters' that are there now,,,I mean GROUND TROOPS!
I see it like this,,,,I would MUCH rather see 1000 foreign civilians(or more) die then my next door neighbor,,,,a GOOD American!
Keep Obama,(the rest of his Liberal fruitcakes) and all the politicians out of our Military and we WILL win wars without the losses we are taking right now!

As a combat vet myself, I have to agree with you. But while we're keeping the politicians out of second guessing our military, lets keep the boot camp officers out of the decision making too. Leave the military decisions to the battle hardened veterans. They, and only they know how to win a war. Don

Amazing that any of you favor a Military dictatorship for the USA instead of Democracy.

Your kind of democracy we can do without! It's about time our boys in the military be able to do what they are trained to do, without the so called "political correctness"! That is what is keeping us tied up so long with all these danged little wars.

Oops there goes Charlie out in the ether again. Charlie, I don't believe anyone is saying we should have a military dictatorship. I think they're saying what we have now is like a sheriff's department where the administrative secretary is making the decisions on how the officers enforce the law. Obama doesn't know sh*t about being a president and even less about being a commander in chief. Lets face it he's more of a political figurehead and knows nothing about heading up a military effort. He's a political animal who's worried more about his legacy, his peace prize, and his public image as some kind of hopey/changey guy. Decisions on how to fight and win wars should be left to the fighters who know military planning and how to win a freaking war. Lets face it, history has proven that as soon as politics and political correctness get into warfare, we start unnecessarily losing American soldiers and wind up losing the war. And by the way, I think maybe Obama exceeded his powers in getting us into this new conflict without approval of congress so at least now that he's gotten us into a third stupid war ( which in my opinion, we shouldn't even have gotten into), he should let the military decide upon rules on how to fight it.....Mel

Great example of Political meddling, Rich. Obama leads, while the previous administartion meddled and denied and refused to protect our troops with basic essentials.

Cost estimate for this war so far is upwards of half a billion dollars ( we have to borrow) spent to defend folks who pretty much hate our guts, just like the money being wasted in the other two endless wars. I don't suppose American citizens who've lost their jobs and are losing their homes or even folks who are at least friendly, the quake stricken Japanese, would be helped by a half billion bucks spent in the right place. It's time we directed American taxpayer funds to the benefit of our countrymen and our "friends" and it's time for our politicians to stop being such a bunch of clueless dumbasses. If I'm not mistaken, long term involvement in the Afghan war was one of the main reasons the Soviets went bankrupt. With all our meddling in the internal affairs of other (enemy nations) it looks like we're heading in the same direction ...Mel

I guess you all now that I don't frequent this part of the RTH much and hardy ever comment but I just can't help myself here. 'm not very good at words and DO NOT want to offend ANYONE here so PLEASE bear with me,,,
As I read this topic I get more and more upset with most of what I read.It sounds EXACTLY like it does down in Washington with all the tit for tat about which "side" who is on!
FORGET about being a Liberal or a Conservative for once and think like an American.
Who cares about weather it's a Republican or Democrat doing this or that? Does a Party REALLY make the difference in how you REALLY feel about this Country???
I HATE both sides as they are ALL bringing this Country down the drain.
They are ALL crooks,,,,,RICH crooks who care about NOTHING but getting re-elected.
The idiot in charge now cares NOTHING about you,me or anyone else as long as he stays politically correct and gets re-elected.
The idiot that was in office before this idiot didn't care about any of the above as long as he got to take a shot at Sadam for what Sadam tried to do to his father!
STOP fighting amongst yourselves and UNITE against ALL of them!
I am NOT a Republican or Democrat,,,I AM an American and we would ALL do better if we all tried to be Americans as one!
