Looks like just plain ol' river quartz, to me. The softer parts were eaten away by the current leaving the streaks. You can find it in any river, anywhere. Ken

I don't know what you mean by "plain ol' river quartz", but this is agate. There are no "softer" parts on this agate. It is all as hard as Lake Superior Agate (as a reference point), and I've found plenty of that (and macro-crystalline quartz) in the same landscape river rock this piece came from, and I've cut both too. This is hard as hell agate.
