Did this one today. I'm thinking it's a Serpentine, probably Antigorite. It's for a custom order for a lady for her daughter. She picked out the slab and wanted the cab shaped like a superman shield. So how do you think it turned out? Jo

Love that green!! Great Superman shield shape, are you sure it's not Kryptonite?

Really nice! With those deep green chromium flecks it does look like several types of fancy jade....Mel

Ed... yep.
Thanks for all the votes for Jade. That's what I first thought when I saw the slab, but when I worked it, it looked and felt so much like the Antigorite I hounded in PA. But Antigorite is sometimes called New Jade or Afghan Jade. (I got my hand slapped by the geologist in PA when I mentioned New Jade, he hates the newer nicknames) I don't think this slab was mine. It had a price of $2 on it and that leads me to think it's Jade. So similar though.
Thanks everyone!

My vote is for jade as well... I am curious though as the surface almost seems to have a pebbly finish to it... Did it feel like a hard stone to work or soft?

On the softer side Lisa. But not too soft. The finished piece.
