Larry, Agate lickers of course already know not to piss on the r... Well, that goes without sayin'. ;-)
Morse, no, do not put them in the dishwasher. If there is anything on the rocks, you don't want it going down the drain, and the action of the dishwasher itself cannot be good for polished rocks.

10-4 Daniel. It's just with these larger rocks I'm afraid of scratching them in the wash tumble. I'll just have to use alot of filler material. Someone mentioned leather.

I dump my barrels out into a wire mesh strainer which fits over a 2 gallon bucket. The snot in the bucket dries in a day or two and I dump it in the trash can. The rocks in the strainer are hosed off in a plastic strainer over my lawn till clean. The grass doesn't seem to care one way or another but it does appreciate the extra water. I burnish with a couple of drops of liquid dish soap and I add small polished rocks and tile spacers to keep the knocking around to a minimum.
