Those are really nice, Daniel. My sister lives on the edge of that area shown on the map. I don't visit there very often, but next time I do, I'll have to go agate huntin'. I also have two sisters in Michigan's U.P., one in the Keweenaw Peninsula. I'm definitely going rock hunting up there this summer. Hopefully I'll come home with a couple more agates. Thanks for all the great information everyone!

Before you go to the Keweenaw Peninsula, do a little research. If you look in the right places, you should be able to find more than just couple Lakers, and there are a lot more things to look for there than just agates.

I have done some research. I have a couple of books about Lake Superior rocks, and my nephew who grew up there likes rocks too. I'm hoping he can find some time to show me some spots. One of my nephews found a large piece of copper in the area. I'd really like to find some datolite, but I realize that it's pretty rare. I'm going to try to get to some old mines to dig around in their tailings.

The prize to look for in the mine tailings is greenstone -- Pumpellyite. Good luck, and show us what you do find when you get back.
