When we went to the beach a couple of weeks ago, I found a gift shop that had a section of rocks. Naturally, I couldn't resist getting some of them ;D Of course, they weren't labeled, so I have no idea what some of them are. Hope you guys can help:
Group Shot. There were also some tumbled stones in a bin that I got. You can see those in the top left corner. I know for sure that most of the tumbled ones are tiger's eyes, but I'm not sure about the rest. I think a couple of them may be tree agate that's been dyed. There is one piece of "Fool's Gold" too.
This is some type of an agate (I think?) that is one of the tumbled ones.
I got this little knapped arrowhead out of a $1 bin there. Any clue what it's made of?
We got 2 geodes (look like quartz crystals in them) there too. We attempted to bust the one on the left with a hammer and a crowbar(using it like a chisel) and, as you can see, it didn't work out so well. The one on the right I cut with a tile saw. I missed the crystal layer on the first cut and had to recut it
These are some sort of pink rocks. I'm thinking maybe they're calcite or pink Peruvian opal?
Most people have already seen my "egg" that I got at the beach, but it doesn't hurt to post another picture for those that haven't seen it. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be made of?
This rock kind of looks like turquoise. I saw similar material there labeled turquosite (howlite dyed to look like turquoise). Any ideas on how to tell the difference?
I also got a 16 lb MFR box of slabs from Clint and Gale at Stoneviews. Thanks Y'all!!!
Most of them were not labeled, so I've picked a few of my favorite looking ones to post pictures of for help in IDing them.
This one is pretty purple material. I'm not sure what it is, but I've started working on a piece of it (see the preform in the bottom left corner) and it cuts similar quartz. I was thinking maybe amethyst, but I'm not sure. I've looked at some of the cabs on their page, and it looks closest to what they have labeled as Victoria Stone. What do you guys/gals think?
This one, I think, is some sort of agate, but I'm not familiar with enough agates to know what kind. I just really liked the patterns.
I have no clue what this one is:
Last, but not least, I found some boulder opal in the box of slabs too. What a nice surprise!
Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I need to take more pictures of any of them
