Daniel (deb193redux) sent me a box of green love. I mentioned how I love the greens and he sent me a whole SFRB of a bunch of different green slabs. This one looks like an actinolite and chrysotile. This is one from Daniel's thread: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sawingb&thread=53621&page=1My pic is coming out a little gold than it really is. The light green has shimmer. It cuts like quartz. This one is from Daniel's thread: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sawingb&thread=53620&page=1It was very firm and cut like Kambaba. To me, it really reminded me of Stromatolite. A Birdseye Serpentine A Chrysocolla and Hematite (did I get that right?) A Fancy Bloodstone. Man, this stuff is hard. A piece of high grade Jade I really love this. It's an Iforgetite (Daniel did you remember the name yet?) I have to say, these are some of the nicest, cleanest cuts I've ever seen. Daniel does exceptional cutting. Daniel, thank you. I had some time today and I got busy cutting my cab shapes. They don't compare to Daniel's virtual cabs, but I tried real hard. Here are my preforms. Closeups. All pics are taken wet, but they tried to dry out, as you can see. I got to work on shaping the cabs, but had to stop 'cause we got a call that company's coming over tomorrow and I had to break down my cabbing station and clean the rig. I'll continue to work on these after they leave and I can make a mess again, LOL. Daniel, these were so neat to play with. I'll post pics of the finished cabs as soon as they are finished. Thank you again!! Jo

fast work. I like how you are playing with the blue seam in the birdseye. as for the idonknowit, Mel suggested African Verdite, and that sort of rang true. One of the lt green in quartz reminds me of an cubist face. that 1st one is from stuff an older couple was selling as colorado/nevada jade at the 2010 denver coliseum show. it was in large pieces and greener towards the center but mixed with a lot of white towards the outside. this piece had a bit of white in it. i think it too soft to be a true jade.
i think you are right about the green w/ hemetite. I had it in my hampton butte green wood pile, but the green darkened with oil in a way hampton butte does not. i heated it at 180 deg for an hour to try and get the oil out. if you have any trouble getting a polish, heat it some more.
i don't cut green often, it was a fun project.

Will do. That cubist face has been shaped and it's gonna be cool. I'm excited to get these done. I'll keep this updated as I make progress. Jo

Very cool, I love green rocks too. Daniel does make a nice cut and he has some knockout material.

Beautiful selection both before and after. I've seen regular bloodstone, but the Fancy Bloodstone is new to me and truly mesmerizing. Reminds me of aerial photos of green areas.

The first one looks a little to me like Mariposite, but Mel's the expert on that one.

Just an update, I got this batch of cabs through 14,000 mesh diamond yesterday. Got a few errands to run but when I get back I'm gonna work 'em up a little more and then hopefully take final pics.

My daughter-in-law is a green freak and would go nuts if she saw that selection. Beautiful stones and preforms. Jim

I took these to 14k mesh and then 50k mesh diamond and then hit a selected few with zam. I kinda rushed them, mainly because my arm was falling off. Only two casualties. Unfortunately, the Jade broke several times and I ended up doing just a small sliver, and the cubist face lost a small chunk off of its face between the14k and 50k diamond polishes. Daniel, I hope I did these justice, of course, now in the pics I see things I'd like to take them back to change. Maybe once my arm recovers, LOL. Okay, here they are, I'm showing the slabs with them for comparison purposes. 1st slab: and the cabs, I did get a light shine on these but it took some work: 2nd slab, the Chrys and Hematite: and the cabs, got a light shine with the zam: 3rd slab: and the cabs, the first one is the cubist face, the chunk came out of the upper right quadrant: 4th slab: and the cab (a cabojohn), this worked up just like Kambaba: 5th slab, the Birdseye Serpentine: and the cabs, I was pleased with the shine on these: 6th slab, the Jade: and the cab: 7th slab, the Fancy Bloodstone: and the cabs: 8th slab, my favorite, African Verdite: and the cabs: Thanks fer looking, and may you all hit green lights, your lawns be lush and may you never be green around the gills. ;D Jo

nice JO. The face lost its eye, and not the 2nd one is my fav of the two - but I have several favorites. Sorry about the BC Jade. Someday I'll send a better piece.
Hope you had fun.
