Whew! This material is awesome! Got this big rock a long time ago and couldn't slab it. A few months ago I sent it to Roy to slab for me and do a trade.... HA!!!! That was a wash because when I got my box of slabs back he also packed it with a bunch of other slabs! Roy YOU ROCK! I finally got around to cabbing one and gee wiz, it sure is nice to work. Here is the preform and the rest of the slab that it came off of. The stone has tape residue on it because when Roy shipped it back to me he taped them on sheets of cardboard so they wouldn't break. And here's the cab! Both pictures are taken outside in natural daylight (it's sunny today in WA!!!) Love this stuff! (Well actually..... I love every rock I've ever held ;D) It has a bunch of healed and non-healed fractures in many of the slabs so I had to get creative to avoid a healed fracture on the front. It worked though and I found a way to frame some dots!!! Thanks for taking some of your time to look at some of mine!

Great material to work with! You did a fantastic job of it too, Krystee! I thought you were going to do that on your saw, though. What happened?

Great material to work with! You did a fantastic job of it too, Krystee! I thought you were going to do that on your saw, though. What happened? Cathy Thanks everyone!!!! Cathy.... DANG!!! I tried, but this was the hardest agate in my inventory....... didn't work for my first, second or as of yet slab..... Thought I picked out something reasonable but alas....... I picked out one of the hardest agates there is to slab ;D Only me could possibly do that ;D!!!!!!! I tried though!!! Since I can't slab the rest of the rock yet.... I decided to cab a shape from one of Roy's awesome slabs! I'm not sure how many slabs I got from him.... at least 10 and probably much more! If you look at my saw video you can see that my polka dot brick was small, the leftover scraps that Roy sent back! Roy deserves all the credit for the dots! He slabbed it and I am coveting it like crazy! Great stuff!!!...... even if I can't slab it yet with my new saw........

Are you working it with a new or used blade? I haven't used my saw yet and have a really nice chunk of the same material that I was planning on slabbing on it... You've got a 10" right? What happened when you tried to slab?... What did your saw do? Thanks! Cathy

What happened when you tried to slab?... What did your saw do? Thanks! Cathy Hi Cathy, yes it's a used blade. Temporarily I replaced it with a DeWalt diamond continuous rim until I order a BD303 for it. My vice grip was stopping half way through the stone even after adding more weights to it. It might be that the motor is mounted too close to the unit and the belt might not be tight enough. The unit was mounted on wood to sell and the wood tends to bow/warp a little bit when it gets wet which I think makes the belt loosen. I need to go get a metal shop cart and remount it so that it doesn't give. I still need to learn how tight the belt should be. Right now I'm using it to trim and hand feed small stones and it's working great, I just need to keep using it so that I can learn the proper mechanics of it!

Hi Krystee,
Good to know. Mine is a gravity feed too. Still in the box as the grandkids are here, but this gives me a reference to work with on that stone.
Thanks,
Cathy
