Very nice, are you going to use it or sell it. Almost seems a shame to get it all dirty.....sorry I was having a moment .... it passed, of course it needs to be used.

mike - not for sale, really just cleaned it up because it had to be disassembled to change out the bad bearing. So while waiting for the bearings to ship from lortone I had time to sand and paint everything. Bearings were probably always bad because it never sounded this good when I got it.

So for me, the gap between the last "before" pic and the first "after" pic would have been descending into hell and clawing my way across the plains of mordor or something. I laughed out loud at what - for me - would have been a monumental amount of work that you seem to have done effortlessly. Nice finished product!

Drummond Island Rocks, inspired me to re-do my old 10" slab saw from lortone. I just hope I can do as fine of work as you did. You used a rattle can for spray paint??
thanks.

Mike - I sanded and wire brushed all the rust areas then scoured every bit with some 3m pads to make sure the new paint would adhere good then I went with 3 coats of rustoleum metal primer and 4 coats of a krylon spray paint. I wanted to use rustoleum but could not get the right color blue. Cleaning the arbor shaft was easy, I just took off the blade and all the wheels and turned it on and sanded it with it running before I took the shaft out.
Good luck on your project and post some pictures!

Thanks Chuck, I just hope Lortone has the bushings and parts for my power feed assembly fo such an old saw. I to prefer Rustoleum, we use to use a lot of it in the food processing industry. Pictures will be posted, inless they are real embarrising then I might hide them LOL

Nice job! Very professional. I have an old LUX6 that I love. I restored it a while back, though not as nice as your job. Mine has rerusted. Still works fine, and a really handy machine. Steve

The bearings went out on my LU6X just tonight, so I'm also looking at a major repair. Is there any tutorial on how to remove the old bearings from the shaft? Are any special tools needed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In haste to keep mine running, I unscrewed the bolts that hold the cover plates to arbor, and was able to expose the bearings and seals. Then, sprayed some WD-40 on the bearings and seals, to see if it would help. I put it back together, and so far so good. It's not making that ticking sound at the moment.
Fortunately, I don't have a problem with rust, not yet anyway. But it sounds like it would be better to just get a new one when the bearings on mine finally freeze, rather than go through the trouble of installing new ones on the machine I already have. Would that be correct?

Beautiful job I I have a question, I hope you don't mind . I just purchased a LU6X130 in very good shape maybe refurbished. I believe the drive pulley on the arbor shaft is on backwards so I need to remove the shaft. I have a PDF on part's and all I see is 1 retainer clip . Is that all that holds the shaft in ? I don't see the greatest and want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I hope I can get some help as I know this is an old feed. Ordered new bearings for my arbor. Having a hard time getting the old ones off along with the pully so I can take the shaft off. Any ideas?
