Okay, my computer at home refused to allow me to upload photos of my mess. Below is the outside and garage--I didn't take pictures of the inside of the house, but my hat is off to Ron--he's got me beat! First, the rocks I managed to discard, however, please note that some of these are native basalt are were discarded long before I lived there: [
Next, the tumbling stuff:
[][/img] [ ][/img] [ ][/img] [ ][/img] The stuff waiting for the 12" saw to be fired up: [ ][/img] The stuff waiting for the trim saw, with its Lot-O friend as well as other things laying around: [ ][/img] And the slabs and rough--all drawers contain slabs (although I didn't open them all) and all cabinets contain rough, two boxes deep: [ ][/img] [ ][/img] Dee and Helen, I hope the above removes any doubt that you have about your less than organized stash! LOL! Susan...that's a bit messy... but what I see is... MORE ROOM!!! LOL! I see LOTS of space for more rocks in your cabinets and floor! Haaa!!
Mine's such a mess, I am NOT taking pix of it yet. I plan to clean it up first after I get back from Vegas before I take pix:P. You have waaayyy more space than I do, and waaayyyy more space to put stuff in too:)!!

Susan, I agree with Helen~ You could fit lots more!! Also looks like you can spend hours having fun, and not even know most of the day has gone by. Then you can nap on the couch, and do it all over again!
Helen, I'm waaaiiiting!

Well, Helen, it's like this. I work far too many hours per week and by the time I get home I can either clean up messes or play with rocks. My motto is "Dull Women Have Immaculate Rock Piles" and I live by my motto. Don't get me wrong--if someone wants to come in and organize, I'm all for it. It's just not as high on my priority list as numerous other things. Yes, Dee, there is room for more! That's why we're going to Cactus Joe's in Vegas and --oops!--I'd better check my Ebay auctions. My partner says when I die he will throw me out in the field and cover me with rocks. When rockhounds come by to pay their respects, they can take a few rocks--by the time the rocks are gone I will be too. All in all, not a bad idea.

I like that:). I knew there was a great explanation for us being messy!! LOL!
What an interesting concept your partner has:).

I just caught up with this one...I am just getting the use of my right arm going after shoulder surgery. Anyhow, here is most of our rock...yes there is more, and there are drawers of slabs too. Since I had the rotator cuff surgery two days after getting back from the Glass buttes Knappin, the obsidian is still on the patio. Woody Main stash More Still more Obsidian for knapping The loot from Glass Buttes in March waiting bins.

ok I have to admit those pictures woody posted scare me a little bit, lol. I could not imagine having access to that much quality material. I need to make sure my wife don't see any of the photos in this thread.
Woody - are those bins all just stacked on top of each other or are they connected to each other in some way? I like the use of the OSB to make those. Very strong and very affordable too.

I wouldn't call that a stash, I'd call it a hoard! No offense intended. And you keep it so neat! I think most people have less rocks than what you brought home in March! (That is some killer stuff!) Jean

To all, the bins just stack on top of each other, and are in two sizes. Somewhere in one of the forums here are drawings of the bins. ALL of the material to build them comes from building site waste. Only cost is nails, and glue.
If you query this forum for 'rock bins' you will find the drawings...I do not know how to link them. Woody

Wow, that's one huge stash Woody! LOVE those bins, I need some, lol. Of course, compared to more of you than I thought, I wouldn't have enough rock to even fill a 1/2 dozen of them. Jean, I can't see it as hoarding, as that seems to be all and everything (it sort of runs in my family) but since it's just rock, they're 'avid collectors', yes?

Hey Snuffy, Your pics just calmed me down considerably. Now I don't feel guilty about using Priority Boxes for the last 5 years to keep mine in.
