I rather partial to browns and tans, and your slabs have it all! Beautiful cab as well.

Great material you have there and the cab came out beautifully! I love what you did with the slab background on that first photo!!!! Very nicely done!!!

Way cool! That's a keeper, for sure. I can see a lot of good cabs in there.

John, somehow I missed it too! Thanks for resurrecting it.
Tommy, I love your Stony Creek Lightning jasper! Beautiful stone, and you did a great job on the cab. Can't think of a better name for it, either.
Oh, and I saw your wrap on a different post - nice! What guy wouldn't wear that masculine (dirty? - lol) hunk of rock?

Thanks all! I'm glad this thread came back up too - makes me want to pull down the dusty bin this stuff is sitting in and take a new look at it. When I made a few cabs from it in April I think all I had was up to 3000 grit wheel. This is definitely worth a new look on the 14k and 50K and see if I can get a better shine.

No relation to "jaspilite" or BIF, banded iron formation.
Hematite streaks red, which is where the name comes from. The hematite is often actually magnetite in BIF. At least in Ontario material.

Yep, SirRox, I was going to say the same thing about the streak.
Whatever it is, it's pretty!

Thanks guys. I wonder if it's some kind of wood then maybe? As shown in the picture below, there was an agatized area on the side of the rough rock that indicated a circular pattern in the quartz inclusions - like maybe it was an original knot.
