You're very welcome Krystee. It's always a joy seeing what a fine job you do on your cabs. Nobody shines them up better than you do....Mel

Thanks everyone!!!!
Mel, I can't believe how dense the red palm is. That stuff started to shine on the 325 disk, LOL! I've had a couple people tell me that the toenails is hard to work. I had no idea??? If I would have known before I started it I probably would have screwed it up! Worked up splendid with only a couple soft spots but they still polished. What's the saying? "Sometimes ignorance is bliss"? Preforming it, I had to be careful as I knocked a fossil out and had to reshape much more gently. Takes a good medium/high polish!
Randy, Wow, where has Noreena been my whole life? That stuff is crazy cool with the patterns! I don't know how to explain it other than it is one heck of a silky smooth jasper and heavenly to work!
Roy, I LOVE BIGGS! Thank you so much for sending me my very first piece!
Love the material and thanks again guys!!!!!!

Krystee: I do only the very first preforming of the toenails on a coarse wheel. Virtually all the rest, doming etc, is all done on a very worn 220 wheel. I find it fast and fun to work, despite the occasional difference in hardness. I can usually get pretty much a mirror shine with optical grade cerium on a leather pad.....Mel

Great to know! I used my felt disk instead of my leather, and diamond paste, and I was too lazy to zam it afterwards but..... I think I'll go do that now It is definitely solid enough for a mirror polish!!! Is optical grade cerium .3? Or is it even finer? I have John's (jsgems) .3 Wow (he has 2 different versions, one for the vibe and one for rotary) which is AO but same micron as cerium. I haven't tried it as a polish on my laps yet but keep wondering how it would work? I pretty much always use diamond paste and zam. Btw/FYI recently I tried zam on my daughter's scratched up video games and it buffed out all of the scratches and now games that haven't worked in 3 years, are working like new again!!! Also works on cd's and dvd's

Krystee, I'm sorry but I don't know the particle size on the optical cerium. I've been using the same two pound bottle of it for forty years *L*. I do remember it was sold for polishing lenses like on telescopes and it was expensive. I used to use Zam with mixed results but this stuff works well on pretty much everything except mixed hardness stuff like some of the jades or stuff that's too soft or porous to take a polish with anything.
You're right that palm is dense. Worse stuff ever to saw. Dulls a blade in no time at all...Mel

Wow those are all beautiful Krystee and you've captured unique patterns in all four! I especially love the red palm - You've captured what looks like motion and it reminds me of a meteor shower
