Update:
Well after running for two years now 24/7 our homemade tumbler was sounding like it needed some maintenance. I decided it was worth taking all the mechanical parts off to lube everything good and give it a good look over. I ended up having a bad shaft due to some set screws coming loose on a bearing and wearing away a large portion of threads. The only other problem was the (2) short belts were both almost completely broken. Not too bad for something that has 17,000 hours on it.
Bad shaft ($10 at home depot)
two Bad belts (got 4 new ones for $15 total on ebay)
Here it is all cleaned up and ready for another couple years of service
I also took some video to try to show the noise level of the tumbler empty and running with 30 pounds of rock rolling.
