I took a batch of crazy lace agate out of the Lot-O a couple days ago, but haven't had a chance to photograph until now. It's my favorite batch so far and entertained the rest of my family for much longer than usual. I can't say that it was fun to do these rocks though. I got the rocks from The Rock Shed. It's the first time I've done Mexican crazy lace, so I don't have anything to compare to, but they took months in rough grind. They had a lot of tiny vugs, some cracks, and some of them undercut. I put them in on Christmas day and some just came out of rough a little over a month ago. Of course, I was taking some out all along, but the worst ones were very slow. I was also going for perfection, so I didn't take out many imperfect rocks. I started with five pounds and I probably have about one pound left. My Lot-O had more ceramic than rocks by far. After all that, what was left was very nice. There are a couple rocks in here from other sources. Some of my favorites: My 83 year old mother who has Alzheimer's is visiting and really enjoyed looking at the rocks with us. She kept finding pictures in the rocks and showing us what she saw. This next rock looked like a chicken to her. We all agreed that it looked like a chicken and she must have repeated that 15-20 times. Later, she came across the rock again and said look at this one, it looks like... (we all expected her to say chicken at this point) an owl, no it's a rabbit! I still think it looks like a chicken. This is my favorite:

what no drool warning? Dang that's a long time to wait for rocks. You should get some sort of boy scout badge for patience or something. Your results are your reward and those are all awesome looking. I have found that doing problematic rocks like those or even our lake superior agates require some time at a diamond 80 grit wheel to take weeks if not months off of the rough tumble.

I actually did do some work on my flat lap to some of them, but probably not as much as I should have. As you said, they were worth the wait though.

One of the best set of tumbled rock I have seen. I know that cherry picking a lot helps too. But those are worth it

The end result is absolutely spectacular! But to go from 5 lbs of rocks to 1 lb of tumbles... wow, I don't think I could do that. Sure paid off for you though! -Don

Absolutely Gorgeous Juggler Guy! I'm sort of in the same position, shortly after Christmas last year I started a load of Carnelian and it's been tumbling ever since! Currently have about 1 1/2 pounds of it ready for the polish stage. Hope mine turn out even half as good as yours did! Those are truly amazing....

It is not easy to find crazy lace of that quality. It was very popular even 40 years ago.
