Sorry but I love this stuff. This one is every bit as hard as agate. It's very dark and was it was hard to get a good photo ... looks better in person. Sorry about giving you the finger... haha

I really like that material. I think it's not only as hard as agate, but it IS agate. The banding and high polish aren't like any Wonderstone I've seen over many years. Nice cabs!

I think you went to the wrong mountain. I never seen no wonderstone look like that! haha!
Nice work. Great use of cady's rocks for the stand.

Really nice looking material, not at all like the wonderstone I have. Great job.

Wow thats a nice one and great orientation! I.like that you show a pic of the edge, thats my problem, domes n edges. How thick is your preform and how high is your girdle? Thats a very curved dome. Thanks Tommy.

Nice work. Great use of cady's rocks for the stand. Haha I thought you might recognize that one. I think you were standing right there when I found it. Poor usage of it though I have to say - off centered and blurry on the right. I'll do better next time heehee.

Thanks Tommy. Thanks! The preform on this was a 3/4" x 2" ugly wedge shaped chip with giant grooves in it. In fact I almost tossed it in the tumbler scraps. Something made me take a second look at it and when I realized it had no fractures I decided to try - I spent about an hour on the 30 and 60 hard wheels just to get it down to a usable shape.

I NEVER would have guessed that it was Wonderstone. Very nice indeed!

I wouldn't have guessed wonderstone, either. Very unusual. I like.

I want to wrap this one but I’m having trouble visualizing a wire color… probably silver would be OK yes?

If that's wonderstone, you'd better go back and collect a couple truckloads. It doesn't look like any wonderstone I've ever seen. It looks more like Bumblebee jasper... which comes from Indonesia I think? If you ever want to trade for some of the wonderstone or travertine we get down here, I'm in! travertine wonderstone

It's definitely wonderstone - but the only stuff available by truckload is the typical beige/yellow/red stuff. I've had to search through piles of stones to find a tiny amount of the hardest stuff, and it is mostly fractured as hell and not really suitable for selling or trading. I've found that with patience I can find good cab sized areas between the fractures that can be worked to a finished piece.

I agree the cab doesn't look like wonderstone but the slab does, although you don't see purple in wonderstone very often. Very pretty cab.

Wow. Cool. Next time I'm collecting WS locally, I'll have to watch for anything close to that...

Well I went with antique bronze - sorry rockjunquie :-) My favorite cab ever, spent the least amount of time with me of any cab yet - I gave it to my bro-in-law for a birthday present today. It was kind of a rush job on the wrapping but I'm very proud of how it turned out - despite the organized chaos at the top wrap on the bail hahah. It's clean and tight and organized which is unusual for one of my wraps heehee.
