Just saw that Phil Robertson of the Duck Dynasty clan has been suspended from the show because of his openly expressed views about homosexuals. Interesting group of folks that have supported his right to express whatever he felt. Didn't see a single liberal mentioned but I'm sure there must be some somewhere. I was watching Bawaa Wallters show last night - just channel surfing - and saw the clan was being interviewed and Phil wasn't there. They said he was duck hunting. I suspect that he would never change or alter his life style despite any amount of money thrown at him.
It's amazing how the attitude toward homosexuals have changed over the years. When I was in the Army, "queer bashing" was thought to be something that was good and honorable and should've been an Olympic event. I've adjusted my attitude toward them over the years to one of tolerance and acceptance. I still don't understand them but my age may be the reason. I'd certainly rather see a happy, supportive gay couple with a child (or more than one) than I would an unhappy, non-supportive straight couple who are abusive and unloving toward their family.

Yes, in today's impolite society; 5% of the nation controls (or tries to) what the rest of us think. The man cannot even voice his opinion without backlash. In today's world; honesty is not a good idea. It may get you fired.
I think this is part of a larger scheme to destroy our heros.
Isn't he entitled to his opinion? Even if society's view is different? His faith tells him something. A man of principle is no longer desirable to society. sad really.

I usually avoid getting into these things, but after reading his statements, I feel he was simply respectfully voicing his opinions (which he was asked to do by the reporter!!). It is really frustrating that the "progressive" people can express their opinions, but others can't do so, even when they do it respectfully. I don't agree with everything he says (but mostly do), nor totally with anyone, but they have a right to respectfully voice their opinion, especially when asked. He is getting punished and disrespected for things which the other side does all the time in reverse. Very much double standards.

Maybe even his son's TV show. A man such as Phil is not going to take kindly to being punished for respectfully speaking his opinion. I my opinion he was set up to fail.

Most liberals I know follow this maxim by Evelyn Beatrice Hall in her biography of Voltaire (often wrongly attributed to Voltaire himself): "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I abhor "political correctness" because it squashes diversity of opinion. Phil is entitled to his opinion. It's most likely an economic decision for the show (and their empire): will they make more money with him there or gone?

I see it as part of divide and conquer! Set up various groups as more equal than the rest.
Kill a white man, no big deal. Kill a black man and it is a hate crime. They are both just as dead. In the old days the circumstances surrounding the deaths mattered. Now it is just the color of the skin. In my book, that is racism, but not to the Progressives.
Divide people into any configuration you may - tall over here, green over there, murderers here, religion X in that spot . . . In every one of those groups there are good and bad people and every possible shade and spectrum in between the two ends.
For right now, homosexuals are God's gift to humanity, every one of them higher than the angels.

Regarding the Duck Dynasty thing. Intolerance and homophobia is your right in this country. The fact that A-E was surprised by anything he said is the real shocker.

LOL Rich!
I would guess the Dynasty and A&E are laughing all the way to the bank. They've got product in craft stores, Walgreens, Home Depot...

Being born gay is no different than being born stupid. Neither can be fixed but stupid is ok.
The more crowded the planet gets the more gays there will be. Natures birth control. It has been proven with other species and we are just one of many. Jim

Sorry PC folks. Ole Phil has his right to free speech just like liberals do. Ole Beckel on FOX news has repeatedly referred to us rural white types as rednecks, hillbillies, crackers etc. with no repercussions. Left calls tea party conservatives "tea baggers". Blacks call whites honkies, crackers, whitey etc with impunity. Yeah, it ain't polite speech and it is often not nice, but folks are allowed to say politically incorrect things if they like. A&E knew exactly what they were getting, rural, religious, conservative folks. Let the viewers decide. I really doubt this program has a huge gay or black viewership just like us rednecks don't watch a lot of gay sitcoms, metrosexual crap, or black programs on TV. If viewership drops hugely, the show will get cancelled. If African Americans and gays don't like it, they don't freaking have to watch it. I am so freaking sick of all this PC BS in this country!......Mel

The guy was asked a question about his beliefs and answered truthfully. I hope they walk away from the network. His beliefs are biblical, period. If folks don't want to believe, then don't believe, to each their own.
I particularly liked this quote. Andrew Sullivan, while denouncing Robertson's remarks as a gay journalist, makes a fascinating argument against A&E:
"Robertson is a character in a reality show. He’s not a spokesman for A&E any more than some soul-sucking social x-ray from the Real Housewives series is a spokeswoman for Bravo. Is he being fired for being out of character? Nah. He’s being fired for staying in character – a character A&E have nurtured and promoted and benefited from. Turning around and demanding a Duck Dynasty star suddenly become the equivalent of a Rachel Maddow guest is preposterous and unfair.
"What Phil Robertson has given A&E is a dose of redneck reality. Why on earth would they fire him for giving some more?"

Good on Phil for speaking his opinion. If it weren't for all of this hullabaloo I wouldn't even know who he was. Turned my TV off in 1979 and don't miss it a bit. Why in the world would anyone care what somebody in a TV show thinks about anything? I know, these guys run Duck Commander, the show is just an offshoot. I really could give a rat's patootie what this guy thinks about much of anything. I'm not religious, but he's welcome to his views on that. I know what I think about things, and most of the people I know think pretty much the same way. I think the gay thing is weird and wrong, but the only gay guy that I actually know (some kind of shirttail relation, I can never keep that stuff straight) is smart, hardworking, successful, votes Republican, and is a heck of a nice guy. I read what Phil said, and I didn't see any hate there-he just thinks it's wrong. Everybody turn off your damn TV, go actually do something or read a book and learn something. I doubt that I'd agree with Phil on everything, but probably more than I would his detractors. It's all just blown up any publicity is good publicity even if it's bad type crap. Like somebody else said, it's the divide and conquer deal-keep the people stirred up about things that don't matter so the people won't notice how bad they're getting screwed on the big things.

Ha, I just was thinking, pretty soon it won't even be proper to say the "F" word in public. After all if you say someone/something is Fat, then it might mean you are thinking some kind of bad connotation and that wouldn't be nice or proper.

In every one of those groups there are good and bad people and every possible shade and spectrum in between the two ends. For right now, homosexuals are God's gift to humanity, every one of them higher than the angels. I left a LOT unsaid, and so here I am quoting myself. I still won't say it all. This forum doesn't have enough bandwidth to hold it. Notice how the Progressives give with the right hand and take with the left? They talk about how much they are helping the Blacks, and are doing everything they can to destroy them! Destroying the Black family, Black abortions are way higher than whites, no work ethics for black children, etc. AND the Progressives are all for homosexuals, right? AND they are also all for Islam that murders homosexuals . . . Say What? ========================================= Like everything else, homosexuality ebbs and flows through time. It was all the rage back in ancient Greece. Read about it in the Old Testament. What turns it the other way? Notice how strident the homosexuals are becoming? It gets to the point no one can stand them when they start demanding that everyone be like them. Sorry folks, it is not about love. It is about sexual tension release. Where we are today has a lot to do with the Law of Unintended Consequences. Here is a little history for you. Sigmund Freud, yeah "the founding father of psychoanalysis," May 6, 1856 - Sep 23, 1939 tried to become a Hypnotist (which was all the rage back then) but was a miserable failure. However, he did discover that most of his "patients" had been sexually abused, often by their fathers who happened to be the Mayor, Chief of Police, etc. He tried to publish, but WHOA!!!! was he in hot water now! That was when he tried to cover up by his fairytale stories about Narcissus Complexes and everyone swallowed it hook line and sinker. READ: Freudian Fraud: The Malignant Effect of Freud's Theory on American Thought & Culture by E Fuller Torrey, M.D. In brief, before Freud, homosexuality was considered a religious sin. Freud saw it as a way to make money, so he declared it a mental aberration that he could cure with his sparkling brand new Psychotherapy! Homosexuals were rounded up and forced into Insane Asylums where ever more horrendous experiments were performed on them. They fought back by going to school and overtaking the psychology psychiatry professions, then from their new highpoint announced "Homosexuality is just another lifestyle." Most people just want to live their lives and ignored what was happening. Sexual abuse of children became rampant. I know YOU don't want to hear this, but 1/3 of all women admit they were sexually molested as children. Talk to sex offenders in any prison (few, because most abuse at least 40 children before getting their first slap on the wrist and are not sent to prison It is only a problem if the offender happens to have deep pockets like a priest in the Catholic Church) and most of them prefer little boys. What happens to all those sexually abused and now sexually confused children? Ever hear of "Victimless Crimes?" Well, our hospitals and prisons are full of them. Sadly, most of them are wonderful people, but their lives are all screwed up by Progressives like Freud.

Based on my personal observation of animal behavior I have observed that homosexuality happens when the organism gets overcrowded. In my estimation this is probably an evolutionary response to stressful conditions (crowding and others). In proper density rodent cages males fight each other for the girls. In overcrowded condition the males seek males for release and the fighting stops. I know this is an oversimplification. My observation is based on 30 years of watching animals of many types and species in enclosed spaces. Lizards do it. Monkeys to it. Chickens do it. Rats and mice do it. From my vantage point it is not a very big leap to humans, specially from chimps. I saw this at a private zoo in central Cal many years ago. Three male chimps in a bedroom sized enclosure. The zoo owners were flamboyantly gay and were pleased to have the only three gay chimps known in the world. Put those chimps in a larger enclosure with otherwise less stressful conditions and they'd be playing with the girls again. Sad really.
Please take note that the greatest density of homosexuals is clearly in the cities. There are some, but at a far lessor rate in rural areas. In rural areas the stress isn't crowding, but is something else, perhaps an overbearing parent or a badly timed death. Or maybe in some cases it is crowding (too many children in poor household).
