Thank you so much Tommy for finding me a place in the corner of your pick-up bed so that I could come along! You have some wonderful examples from your "climbs". Shoot, I don't need (or even want) a 10-20# bolder of your finds. Without a saw, I only need the 1-2" tumbling size. I bet most folks leave that behind? I can't wait to see some of the slabs from this trip.

The piece I have is identical to yours, but you may have a little more red than I do. Also, my piece is a lot smaller. Either way it is very cool material and works really nice. I may have to get with you and see about a mutual trip out there to cultivate a few of the larger pieces!! I still don't think it's the material I know as spiderweb jasper - I don't see ANY indication of the "eyes" are present and it's the wrong color. That's the thing with common names though - you never know if it's apples or oranges. BTW - the jury is still out the material - I cut another small piece last night and the inside was soft and almost all green with no red. Stay tuned - if you see me start posting pictures of cabochons I created from it I might be inclined to go back for more.

I love Fallon. Have lot's of relatives in Fallon and surrounding areas. I almost bought 160 acres up there back a while ago but it was in the middle of nowhere at the time. Should have done it, prices have surged up there. If anyone is also in to scuba diving try Big Soda Lake. All the old equipment from the soda mines is still down there. Fun to check out. Most of the equipment is in the 60-80 depth range. I have not checked out anything deeper. You hit a major thermocline at 80 feet that turns you in to an instant Popsicle .

Great trip report Tommy, and fabulous stuff! You are a rock hunting prodigy, that's for sure! Can't wait to see some cabs of the purple stuff.

Awesome! Looks like you got some great pickens, too. You have a devoted wife!!! I love DH to death, but I don't know if I would have dug that rock out for him.

What a great report, great rocks, love them all. Good on you both for toughing out the weather. Gonna get over there one of these days real soon.
