Who would of thunk that this material would do up so beautifully. Very attractive! I wouldn't even thought about taking this for granite. Thank you! Ivan

tkvancil- oh my! I am hoarding small colorful granites and odd mixes, etc. I can't wait to get started.... everybody has given me some pretty high goals to aim for, but now I have confidence it can be done. thanks to everybody for all the good input!

Snowmom
When out on the great lakes, the kids and I collect all types and sizes of granite. When I'm running a batch of rocks through the tumbler and need some filler rocks, we usually throw in some granite.

I think I just ID'd 90% of what I've been collecting at the beach, time to pick out a batch that has little to no black material in it and give it a whirl!!

Better late than never...
This is s piece of monument granite. It actually came from a scrap yard. (I think someone put it into some scrap do they could get more for it than steel scrap value. Set me back a 6 or 12 pack of Coronas for the scrap guy!
It is 28 x 16 x 3 inches, very heavy. Yes, AKA headstone.
Found this one on a recent excursion, I'm pretty sure I found it in Quartzsite. Dry.
Wet.
Dry face. It does have some fractures, don't know how well it will hold together.
Wet face. The colors just pop!
A wet slab.
I have one more piece that you'd like, kind of a blue-ish-greenish granite, found within 30 miles of home. I just had my hand on it the other day, but didn't think to pull it out and take pics. Okay, I'll look for it again. Jean

I would bet $ 14.97 that that came from Georgia. We make about 1/2 of all tombstones for you wonderful folks. Over half are white granite and the balance is that there pink granite. We cut little stuff like that with a hand saw. No match for that green/purple cut. Beautiful colors. That granite commands respect.
