Watermelon agate? The colors in it it made me think of hydrogrossular garnet when I first looked at it. Never have seen a Montana agate with green and red in it. Interesting and thanks for sharing, Mario.

Interesting and thanks for sharing, Mario. It's actually more orange than red.. kinda washes out the brown on the bottom right, makes that part more red. Definitely better looking in person though!!

Fantastic! Did it come this way naturally? No heat treatment or such?

No flippin' way! Is that for real? Incredible! So the story is this..... I was grinding/sanding/polishing/cabbing the first piece and a friend took 1 look at it and was floored by the looks of it, and said how the green was really coming out nicely. I told him it was the dop wax showing thru, we both laughed and talked about a way to make a clear stone pop more. The answer was a doublet using a colored plastic backing. But the price was higher than I was ready to spend for an assortment of colors. So we went with the next best thing..... Cellophane!!! I got 24 sheets in 5 colors for less than $5.00 and because it is so thin, it can be applied to a thicker cab with any clear drying glue. also a doublet could be done with the cellophane sandwiched between a sheet of clear plastic and the stone which in the end would allow more light to get behind the stone bringing out the colors more. No dyes needed. Actually this is a continuation of another thread where the creator added a clear backing to the cab to allow light to get behind it to better show off the stone. Well, a thin clear or white backing would present the colors better for wearing. I think it would also be a cool way to do an initial for a personalized gift for someone too!! lots of options limited only by your mind, which, with all of the wonderful people here, would be limitless!! lol Anyways, it was a fun experiment that, in my opinion, has merit in the world of cabbing design by adding a new dimension to the colors of cabs. Love it or hate it.... let me know your thoughts!!
