I was lying in bed flat on my back recovering from back surgery. My wife and I held each other and cried. That soon turned to anger and I am still angry to this day!

I was at work. Large metal building with no access to media. Arrived at home after my shift to a silent household, rare in those days. I remember watching the images on TV in stunned disbelief. To this day I still have a hard time accepting that it actually happened on our soil.

I was in my second day of high school in Grade 8 in Canada. I remember watching it in the morning and asking my mom if it meant we were going to have World War 3. My mom's flying in the US today and I'm slightly concerned. RIP to everyone who died in that attack.

Sitting on the couch eating Cheerios just before my first day at a new job. Was watching Good Morning America or something similar, I think Bryant Gumble was the anchor. I am pretty sure I was watching live feed as the second plane hit, surreal. As BC said Rest in Peace, to those lost. -I will forgo my typical salutation-

In the bedroom watching the second plane hit the tower - LIVE. I swallowed my heart and tried to go about my day. It wan't until weeks later I figured out why I was in such a funk. I watched hundreds of humans die on live TV. I found out yesterday that two of those on that plane were known to one of our members. billg22 works for the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings had two scouts in that plane. The link below tells the story better than I ever could. kings.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=41364Thats is one of those defining moments. We will all remember it; taking it to our grave.

I was awaken by my girlfriend, crying and telling me to get up and look at the TV. Planes were flying into towers! I didn't know if it was real or if I was dreaming! I had just flown in from the East Coast, Raleigh, NC, only hours before the planes hit. I caught a red-eye home after visiting a friend for a couple of weeks and got into Sea-Tac just after midnight on September 11. If I had stayed a day later and flew out later that day, as planned, I would have been stuck over for who knows how long. Such a sad day in American history.

Was getting ready to leave for work, turned the news on just after the first plane hit the first tower. I was in shock! First reports were treating it like a terrible accident, but I knew better. Everybody woke up after the second plane hit the other tower.
It was terrible to see people jumping off the buildings to their deaths. Before I left for work, the first tower came down. I think the second one collapsed soon after I got to work.
Funny how everyone became so patriotic on that day. Thirteen years later, most everyone has gone back to their old ways...

At the UofA living on campus with my brother. got a call from mom to turn on the TV. watched the chaos as it was broadcast live. We suddenly felt the need to leave campus. On our way out the Israeli guy on our floor wondered if Israel had been attacked, and the ROTC guys were rushing back to change out of their uniforms for their own safety. We called up our friend who lived off campus and got a ride over to his place. watched the news a little longer until we were all sick of it. I picked out a movie to watch instead to distract us for a while which turned out to be Fight Club...it wasn't a great choice given the events of that day. Classes on campus were canceled, a makeshift memorial was erected on the green. Taps was played, names of the dead spoken, everyone seemed to be in a state of shock for days after.

It was a Tuesday, my day off and I had gone fishing at dark-thirty. I had a picture perfect morning, limited out on aggressive Brown trout in a short time. I was marveling at the beautiful morning as I walked back to the truck. Got home, dumped the trout in the sink and turned on the news just in time to see the second plane hit. Tears and rage followed.

I was at work, in the spray booth finishing cabinets with the radio on. I wasn't sure if it was a disc jockey doing a prank. we went into the office where there was a tv and couldn't believe what was going on. never forget!

Scott, earlier in summer sometimes I get back in time to drive my wife to work at 8 am. I hike/wade in the dark to get to where I want to fish at first light. That is a large part of my success, and I rarely see another fisherman.

I was at work when one of the nurses came in my lab to tell me about the first plane. A little latter they came back asking me to fix the TV so that they could have it on in the break room. I got the TV working and went back to my patients before the second plane hit. I remember being slammed busy that morning and not really being able to get away to see what was going on. Years later when I was crying with a patient over the loss of his grandson and namesake in Iraq to an IED he reminded me that I was the one who told him what was going on that morning when he came in to see me. I never would have imagined...

I worked the graveyard shift, was not feeling well, and had taken that Tuesday morning off. My 7 a.m. ritual was to e-mail the girlfriend who resided in Prescott. I turned on the computer to do just that and noticed Yahoo News section with blue line type Plane Hit World Trade Center. Strange, I thought. Then I proceeded to write the e-mail. A quick one.
‘ Morning Beth- Just noticed a strange headline on Yahoo. LovEd’
Send!
Go back to Yahoo news and all hell was breaking loose. I didn’t have a t.v. So I turned on the radio and monitored the whole event by computer
Then the headline broke that second plane crashed I knew I had to get to a t.v. Went to the neighbors and woke them. I saw the second tower collapse.
My first reaction was that it was purposely imploded. It really did a number on my conspiratorially thinking. Big time! It took me a good week to realize the truth of the matter. Which I believe is pretty much what we been told. mostly

I was at college in Baltimore. Was running to class when I ran into a professor that looked like a ghost. Went straight home to be with family. My (now) wife was at her apartment and watched the whole thing live. Her morning routine was to get up and turn on the Today show.

I was in prison at the time (as an employee, not an inmate). I came back from a morning break, and the front office staff was gathered around a tv in the visitation area. Saw the second plane hit, walked out and met the Warden, and proceeded to lock down the unit, not knowing what the reaction would be from the inmates. The cellblocks were unusually quiet that day.

At the very moment that the first plane hit, I was handing in my letter of resignation at my glassblowing job. I came outside to where my husband was waiting and he told me what happened. Then we listened to Mancow on the radio. At the Ace hardware, a customer ran up and told us about the Pentagon- that was when I really freaked out. Back home we all just watched in shock and cried. My son was on leave and he was called back to the base.
My brother in law was on his honeymoon in DC. We knew they wanted to go to the Pentagon. We were so freaking worried about them!!!! They ended up stuck on the interstate- not moving for hours upon hours. Better than dead, I say!
