I was all out of material to tumble this week so I tossed in about a dozen cabs and 3.5 pounds of ceramic filler in the loto. I started this batch in the afternoon on Thanksgiving day in 120 and ran them for 48 hours. On Saturday I did a thorough clean out and put them in 500. After only 48 hours in 500 I was amazed by the shine so now I am skipping 1000 grit and just going to run them for a couple days in polish but I am not even sure if they need it. jamesp - the white one on the bottom is your coral. quick rough grind to get the shape then straight in the vibe. no rotary necessary. after 48 hours in 500 with no polish and not burnished. just rinsed and dried. stay tuned for final closeup photos Chuck

I put 220 in the vibe with a load of obsidian. it had not removed bruises in the obsidian after 48 hours. The rocks were coated with a clear but milky coating. When I added fresh 220 I was surprised to see how big the 220 particles were in the milky coating. I could not see any particles from the old 220.
After 2-3 days in 1000 I have an almost 14,000 polish. Probably another day would do it. Looks like you did the same in 2 days with 500.
What you experienced does not surprise me. You ought to leave one out and compare it to the after polish cabs.
Does that coral have a clear perimeter where you grooved it, or am I seeing things ? Could be a beveled edge.

Those look outstanding. It'll be interesting to compare them after polish.

Sorry to hear you are out of material to tumble - I start getting twitchy when that happens!
Great finish on those superb cabs though!

Careful! After they're polished, it might blind you... Wow!

That is a crazy shine after only running in the 500, mine generally don't even look like that after prepolishing. Looking forward to seeing the end results!!

You and that Lot-O do some nice work. I give the loto 25 percent of the credit. Or is that the other way around ? Chuck

Very nice work, the 3.5 lbs. of ceramic was perfect with those. What sizes of ceramic are you using? All one size or several sizes?
