Today is day 4 in AO 1000. Yesterday the ole 1000 sheen, no bruises. Will clean out today and start AO 14,000, about 6 pounds of stone, 7 pounds glass filler. Should be polished in 2 days.
Same jump from AO 220 to AO 1000 as test samples that were run w/rhyolite.

What no pictures ? (grin) Santa stingy this year. Forgetful too, left it turned off yesterday. Looks like celestite and calcite may be on the menu too here soon. Got some pretty marble in Georgia, another soft one to try. Will be experimenting w/some softer pre-polish and polish too.

If anyone can crack the shine, you will James.
Got my latest batch finished today, just need some light to get the pics taken. Freezing fog forecast for tomorrow though.

I may get an 'A' for effort anyway Ian. We have had your drizzle and fog all month. Character building at the least. At least you are closer to Santa up there. Get those pics on the screen, waiting.

jamesp, I think celestite is the mineral used in flares and fireworks. 3 something on Mohs? Might not want to shoot them in your bucket. But if you do, please get your camera charged and take some pics.

Another day yet in 14,000, edges have slight frost not apparent in photo. Looking closer, the frosting may be something to do with the crystalline plane, it is only on one or two edges. Doubtful that the polish will remove it. Will try a gentler setting next time, but do not have much 'gentler' left. Probably use rice hulls too. The polish on the fluorite was hand in hand with the polish on the glass filler. The bigger ones frost more.

They look good to me! Well done Jim! Thanks Ian. Blame it on that expensive machine. Unlike a carving knife that is only as good as the person carving

But have no idea what it does in fire works, it is supposed to be blue in color. what will Jan be doing New Years Eve ?? Remember these ?

Looks like the bearded fellow is in for a big surprise. Note the spelling at the bottom 'ght' away quickly LOL. The mileage on the sign is quite accurate and the pronunciation Geo'gia is too. Curious as to who the graphics designer was. Seems to know a bit about the culture but spells poorly. "Colonized by the Portuguese in the 16th century, Macau was the first European settlement in the Far East. Pursuant to an agreement signed by China" Interesting stuff panamark

LOL connrock Hope you Holidays went/are going well. Thanks for standing guard. Could use protection from certain quick witted folks. Thanks be given to that vibe and good advise. Do you think softer abrasive will help w/soft rocks ? Ha, might as well try to see what happens. You mentioned using tripolish on obsidian so I thought it needed exploit.

I read your post about the softer abrasive and have to wonder how much longer it will take to get the same results as if you used "normal" abrasive? How much more will you have to use? Dunno but I guess we'll all learn something from your experiments! I use Tripoli as a pre-polish and not a final polish. I've used Rapid Polish #61 on just about everything I tumble and I think I get some pretty good results with it. Sometimes it's hard to stand guard when quick witted folks persist and sometimes it's even more difficult to not join in with ones own wit,,,, when there is easy prey to be had! LOL Good luck,,, connrock
