I am so glad that Heather has been allowed to visit with y'all and her fever broke. I hope she is moved from ICU soon so she may see her baby girl. Is the superbug MRSA? spiritstone, I hope orrum sees your thread about Heather. I think he could give some encouraging words. Keeping Heather, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

gingerkid and captbob yes it is MRSA the super bug. Were pulling strings at the moment to have her moved to the university hospital in Edmonton and have written a letter to the best specialist in Alberta dealing with infectious diseases to take her in. We requested the transfer immediately due to time not on our side at the moment. Fingers crossed this can happen. We really want a second opinion for our peace of mind and Heathers if there is anything else possible before having to go so far there is no turning back. The ball is rolling so all we can do now is wait patiently for a quick reply.

I am sorry to hear this news, I hope that the doctors can help her. I had two brothers that lost a leg each from a drunk driver. One brother ended up doing a Nike commercial just do it. He has helped others out that had their lims removed does hospital talks telling others that it's not over . You can still have a life . Hoping for the best.

wow this was a tough read. I am so sorry spiritstone, and obviously very sad to hear about the prognosis, although as everyone has said it certainly beats the worst-case scenario. I didn't realize she had her own family, little ones can be a challenge and also a blessing during difficult times. Still praying for Heather and you all.

The battle continues....you get a little hope and then it crashes back down. The surgeries continue to try and save the leg except from what I have seen it doesnt look good, and I almost lost my lunch looking at the damage so far. The hospital she's in is affiliated with the one in edmonton so we are in good hands and getting the best care she can get. The little one is going up today and there is a room with one way glass, so mom can see her, but the kids cant see in the ICU ward. Thats all for now...talk at you all later.

Update: Things are looking better everyday. Her body is finally accepting the antibiotics and some healing has started to happen. A long road ahead with recovery, but overall looking good so far. Her spirits are high and she is doing some arts and crafts to keep herself busy. Still in ICU, but maybe soon were all hoping she can be transferred out of that ward onto a regular patient floor. I'm going to keep thinking positive thoughts and guess my next post should be the last of this dreaded bug, and on the road to her recovery. Thanks from all of us.

A gift she made for me today. I wanted to show it off. She hung a healing crystal underneath. Cool! I have a few drilled out opal beads I told her she could corporate them into her next one, if she was up to it, something more to do during the down time. I see some talent here.

That is wonderful news Spirit! Good to hear that she is keeping a little busy with her craft work as well. Too bad the kidlings couldn't get in for some hugs, but hopefully just seeing them was a boost. Continued prayers and wishes for the smoothest recovery possible.

Everything looks good, they are going to clean the leg one last time and close It up tomorrow. Put a pic in her heart? so she can administer antibiotics, and go home this weekend.

Well, I don't think that I'll be making that picture my wallpaper here on the computer, but it actually does look much more healthy than I would have expected.
Good they are allowing her to do home. Hang in there Heather!

Hang in there Heather! Lol, I agree. This was the cleanest pics I had of the pimple size wound tostart with, to the finished outcome. The others I have were just a little to gory with infection and hoses hanging out the back of the leg for the forum.

As far as it got, were thankful for it stopping. I had to look up what they meant by a pic. Medical terms I'm unfamiliar with. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripherally_inserted_central_catheter

Still in the hospital, found more during the last surgery. Wound is being kept wide open for now, and I wont guess when she is going to be released anymore. I think its not very proper to get someones hopes up then shut them back down a couple days later.
