good morning RTH mohs here I’m in the middle of lots of stuff so here is some heart to help I’m not sure if I overheated the fluorite and this fracking is from that ? Or is it natural? Actually its a pretty neat effect either way. In this particular case. The front side doesn’t show it as distinctly Howlite and the palm wood I got at the Flagg show Have a great weekend all ! I got lots to do but I’ll probably just grind mohs

Thanks Tela!
Yes the black and white combo are a ticket I’m not sure they ever been a black & white keyboardist heart so when they become a rage you can say you saw them first on RTH

I've never worked fluorite either. I'd imagine it's like cabbing a stick of butter lol. And to be heat sensitive on top of it!?! Black n white looks allright. I think you did a swell job Ed.

The black and white is the one Ed. I had better luck tumbling a batch of fluorite than obsidians if that means anything. Lots of fractures in that stuff. The pieces that did not have fractures did quite well in the tumbler anyway. Seems like it would be too soft to over heat on wheels.

Thanks Nate, Bill, Mike & james! you guys rock !!
the black & white was made for the dude at the Yard I showed him the keyboard heart and he wants one! He wear a real heavy duty chain (so I need to get or have one of you metal workers- james? ) make a clip on bail that will compliment and fit his chain.
He’s the owner of the Yard and he told me to make a display of rock’n hearts and he’ll display them I the store. The Yard sell granite slabs for counter tops -- so it would be a good gig to get my name out there.

Be careful with the fluorite, it will very easily pop on that fracture line. You could in all likelihood break it with your fingers. Pretty pieces!

yes that flourite is touchy its the second one I tried this one works --but I can still see I wasn't gentle enough I'll probably shy away from it until I get some better equipment and lighter fingers I want to thanks all for the likes and comments ! Ed

interesting orrum & james
Bill-- it would take real light touch to facet & would react fast- I would think have you ever seen any faceted fluorite?
James was the fluorite cushioned in clay?

what grit did you start at or was it just clay in the tumbler and polish in the vibe? was it pretty small load? It was an 11 pound load of fluorite and 3 pounds of glass filler into a 14 pound rotary barrel Ed. Lot of steps in rotary 80-220-500-1000. then the vibe for the 14,000 polish. The fluorite was way too soft to break the grit down, so the many steps. Then vibe finished about 3 pounds at a time with other rocks. One of the 3 pound loads did real well, the other two not so well. Flourite in tumble size chunks purchased off Ebay but originated in Madagascar. It was above average quality. About a 1/4 of it was preforms that they had tried to make shapes out of it, probably overseas.
