Here is their cage. They like their dish. I had never seen a snake drink before I put this in with them. The log keeps the dish out of the bedding as they push the bedding in the dish if it is not up. They both really like the stick to climb on. The gopher climbs it and strikes a pose with a shit eating grin. I have never seen a snake make a smile face before. Didn't know it was possible. I have to take everything out when I feed them as the mice climb up onto the top via the stick and the gopher is likely to toss the log through the glass when she grabs the mouse. She is a bit aggressive towards her prey. Neither one likes the hiding rock. It ends up full of bedding and with no one in it.

I see nothing in those photos to assume that she is pregnant. We will just record that one for posterity. You may be right. We will know in 2 weeks. How many snakes years experience ya got there Bob ? That is, how many snakes have ya kept for how many years? FYI, I'm north of 15,000 snake years. If she isn't gravid, then humidity is too low, she should be kept alone, and no handling again until she eats. Mark, you are getting a ton of confusing and possibly irrelevant advice. I'm happy to talk on the phone if you would like. You have my number.

OK. We will go with pregnant. I think the gopher is a female too as she has a single anal scale too. Single anal scale diagnoses species not gender. Bob is right about feeding separate but I say house separate. Moist box for eggs will comfort her.

I believe this is the image rockpickerforever refers to when she sees eggs. I see what she is referring to.

Snake years? *snort* No, I never ran a pet shop. I had snakes (all types of reptiles actually) all my youth (when we were living in the US). Dad was a snake guy too, used to sell rattlers to Ross Allen for college money. Got my first boa at 10 years old and he lived 33 years. Multiple snakes through teens and twenties. Boa lived until in my 40s No need to get in a d*ck measuring contest here, I will concede that you have dealt with more snakes. But, I'm not just talking out my butt. Need tail pic to see gender. Single anal scale diagnoses species not gender. okay... Mark, you are getting a ton of confusing and possibly irrelevant advice. What would that be? At least I now know not to dare comment on snake threads!

Someone specifically reached out to me and then you dismissed my observations. One gains significant knowledge in an intense setting where thousands of snakes are housed, and hundreds more in clients hands.
Yeah. I'll bite back when your advice was outta foul ball territory. Your father selling snakes to Ross Allen is super cool btw. But is totally irrelevant and adds zero to your credibility.
The confusion was the old school long forgotten husbandry techniques that will liken lessen the success of our friend.

I separated them into different containers. Both got the box of moist soil. I don't know what the one is doing, but the gopher went hog wild in the dirt.

Please show where I dismissed your observations. I simply added my own suggestions while never commenting on yours. Love to hear what advice (suggestions) I gave that you consider "outta foul ball territory" - whatever that means. You may not have noticed, but my first post here was two minutes after your first post. With my two finger typing, I was certainly typing my post as you posted yours. Clearly wasn't posted to "dismiss" something I hadn't even seen. The Ross Allen mention was simply to share. I don't need to prove any credibility to any one. Again, all I was doing was making what I considered to be helpful suggestions. Didn't intend to rain on your private parade. Diagnose away Mr. 15,000 snake years!

OK, can we just bury the hatchet Please. If I had known that I was going to start a pissing contest I would not have started the thread.

Hey Mark, no problem here. I just didn't expect to get called out in such a manner for trying to offer suggestions that have worked for me in the past and asking simple questions. I certainly didn't intend to give any "confusing and possibly irrelevant advice" and I don't believe I did.
But what do I know...

From my experience (questionable as it may be) yes, they raise their tail and pee and poop at the same time all from the same hole (layman's term). Lizards will also raise the tail to do the same.

Well done. Good grab. Way better than the one i referred to. Mark and I spoke on the phone. He has updated his husbandry and he should see a change in his ratsnake. Cannot wait to see what happens in the next couple weeks. Lay eggs or not, she should begin eating in two weeks or so. Kudos Foxtail!
