BADGES?

Damn! I lost my BADGE access card to work. Somehow! Which really as me bamboozled! But that another story Anyway I couldn’t find it this morning getting ready for work . So I go to work and have my fellow employee let me in. Actually, I thought the badge fell off at work and was laying on the floor somewhere. That theory didn’t pan out. Anyway I’m in there working having a grand old time. Understand that I only work with 1 other person. I’ve been there 2 years with this guy. We monitor data storage systems and receive requests from around the world. Really good clean job. So I step out to take my break. Call my off-site supervisor to report my badge is misplaced. MISTAKE! She goes off the rails! How it was a security violation that the other employee allowed me in and that I’m not allowed back to work until they re-issue me a badge. So I’m home for at least a couple days. They got to make out a ticket and all other type of B.S to get me a new badge. Needless to say I’m not very pleased with the situation and kicking myself that I lost that badge/// see below --if I lose my cool over this--

Ed, you have my sympathy for having to work with a supervisor like her.
Security around some of the high-tech companies around is pretty pathetic. And they all require badges.

Thanks Bill! Not sure how I'm going to work it. I have vacation time--- so I'll use that for tomorrow & Friday But beyond that (and it may take a few more days) I may take a leave of absence. One thing is there slow but they can be fast when they cared to be so I'll be able to tell how valued an employee I am by speed which I tellya I'm pretty damn good

Thanks Pat I really appreciate it! It’s a great job. But don’t make a mistake! You’ll pay a big corporate price for it. I been error free for 2 years. Now I have to pay the piper. I had written on the board a year or so ago about not being allowed to let my second level supervision onsite. Not sure anyone remembers that? She was visiting from California. Had scheduled to tour the facility on a Tuesday. Well… she called me at work that Monday. Was at a hotel and bored, I suppose. Called to asked if she could come by for visit? I said sure! You’re the boss. Sign you right in. But then I diplomatically backtracked and escalated the request. The answer was NO! Ha Ha. I couldn’t let my boss onsite!! Pitiful and pathetic. Anyway she showed up the next day and with proper protocol...

Tell my story how I lost this badge The stinking badge is a strong lanyard which hangs around my neck I keep the badge tucked into the shirt so it not flopping around Take it off every night, wrap the lanyard around the badge, and put in its designated place. Happy Last night getting off work I hadn’t realized it was pouring rain !! Big time. And I had left the windows down on my car. I run out to the car, stash my backpack/laptop into the trunk, get the windows rolled up and I'm soaking wet! So the bucket seats. Micro= burst! Thunder and lightening! You might have seen it on the news. So I drive off in my bucket of bolts w/ Buckets of driving rain! Ugghhh! and the defroster doesn’t work So I’m wiping off the inside of the windshield. Pull up to a light and immediately surrounded by squealing sirens and blinking red lights. A funeral procession. Then my driver side windshield wiper blew off ! I’m waiting there at the light for this long procession and the windshield wipe isr flopping, So I keep wiping more furiously the windshield for a little vison Then the car starts to over heat. I been meaning to fix that. So I turn off the engine and wait & wait. A V.I.P. must of died. And the rain is pounding and the lightening is fierce, thunder booming, Wind howling. Will the car restart when this damn procession end? Yes!! Only another 2 miles to go. The streets are flooding -- windshield is fogged. Grabbed my glasses out of the glove box. Light a smoke. Turn up the radio. All that helps when your going to crash. But I didn’t. I made it! To the house. Sopping soaking wet! Immediately stripped off my clothes and put on my bathing suit. Later after the rain quit I went out and wire wrapped my windshield wiper. But that all I did. Didn’t go anywhere. Somehow that badge got lost between work, car, and this room. Can’t find it! Tore things upside down looking thanks for reading….

Good read, Ed! A whatdonit. "...he rushed into his room dripping wet. In haste to be rid of wet clothing he stripped off his shirt with such vigor that his badge flew across the room, landing unnoticed in a inconspicuous spot."

I know it's hard to look at this way but they are protecting you and others, safety. Too many people shoot places up just because they can. Someone have to try to protect others. Again... Try to look at the good. if you have to take days off, just make it work for you. Very sorry that it is happening that way.

Tanks spiceman
Yep-- I understand their need to red flag the badge immediately. It could get into the wrong hands.
But not to thrilled with the company locking me out. As mentioned. It only 2 people. So my own self-recognizant should amount to something.
But that what the procedure specify. Procedures Procedures Procedures
tellya after we kick this PC crap out I'm all for going after PROCEDURES> They prevent people from communicating the old fashion way.
Anyway I'll make my days off fun. Get some rock hounding in. With all this rain the rocks are churned up and clean.
