I have permission to hunt a few stretches of creek in that area. Not everyone so trusting of outsiders there, just depends on what they're up to. About what you see there?
We don't get a lot of quartz around here (southern TN). Middle Tennessee, however, has a lot of quartz geodes. Got lucky during a road project. Had access to a road cut in progress a few times and found geodes with multiple different minerals. Pretty rare for our geodes. This one has quartz, dolomite and calcite. The colors are off a bit, the dolomite is more salmon colored and the calcite is more yellow. I don't have a good picture handy of the TN Paint Rock duds. But I was able to dig out a picture of the one piece that I took up to Will Smith (TN Agate guy, recently passed away) to have cut on his big club saw several years ago. It is about the size of a soccer ball, photographed dry. This is the best one I ever found, which pales in comparison to his. The voids in the upper middle is what the duds mostly are. Nothing but swiss cheese. I do get a lot of duds that are opalized all the way through from spending years in water.

That Kentucky agate is awesome. I was just on a road trip through Kentucky and stopped by a few rock shops asking about Kentucky agate and no one seemed to know anything about it. They just had a bunch of geodes. You always have the prettiest material.

These are what I dream of - Such beauty and shine - 3D. Maybe I missed it Randy, but did you do this in a rotary tumbler, or in a vibe? If you did it in a rotary tumbler... I might just throw away my UV-10! Thank you for sharing this with us! Thanks! I use a Lot O after the rotary grind. Keep that UV-10.

Or Western KY around the fluorite museum. Surprised to hear they didn't know of KY agate.

There were a bunch of places with tables full of geodes. Actually from looking at your rough photos I guess that is more or less where the Kentucky agate comes from. If they had some cut ones I might have noticed though it sounds like it is a long shot to get one with color in it. Always more to learn!
