That was a bunch of slabs I purchased back in the 1960's so zarguy has better guesses than i do. Thanks Dave. I started grinding on the other piece just to verify it in my mind and yes it's quite soft. Every detail about it reminds me of working with picasso - but I guess we'll never know.

I don't think that's green Picasso marble. It looks like Imperial Jasper, Willow Creek Jasper, or Morrisonite. All of those a pretty hard. Picasso is fairly soft. Lynn After working the 2nd piece this morning I'm going to backtrack and say it's not as soft as I thought it was. Maybe it just seemed softer when my mind was telling me it was picasso. I think you are right about Imperial jasper and in fact I see that some are calling it "spiderweb imperial jasper." rockjunquie has a pendant for sale with what looks to be the same stuff. Another piece for sale on ETSY

Beautiful batch!
You have a very nice tree in that green slab that you posyed next to the end of the previous page. You could frame a big cab to keep it as a tree.

I picked up some chalky outside cortex rovks st the first picasso place we stopped at Lynn. They were greenish. I chipped one when we got back to Az and it was green background with the picasso lines of different shades of green. Was very similiar to Tommy's cab. I was going to throw it into the rock garden at our caming spot and the lovely Sussn.told me to chip it. I only picked them up because we stopped snd the color was interesting. I found them while peeing on the opposite side of the rock pile ftom where yall went. Thank Sussn for getting me to chip them! By the way they chipped with a concoidal fracture like hard flint knapping rock!

Beautiful pieces! I agree it's green Imperial jasper. Like the second piece even better, with the faint background orb lines. BTW, I've always called that pattern "spiderweb" too, but "spiderweb" seems to turn off more than a few customers when it comes to selling cabs or jewelry. Once an arachnophobe gets that image in their mind, no way are they going to buy something called that to be worn next to the skin. Too bad, because it is gorgeous stuff. Black Rock t-egg is a stunner, too.

Very nice. Can't wait for some wise guy to comment on title so here goes. If you are cabbing your butt off you really need to hold the stone in your hand, preferably on a dop stick.

WOW!!!! Those are all awesome. Love them all.....very hard to pick a favorite. I really like the first two, the Starry night, Sci fi, Linda Marie, dino bone, green Picasso, Wingate, and Apache Sage. If I go through them again I'm sure I'd add the rest to the list. Andrea

You've been busy! I hope you have enough butt left to sit and cab again. I'm gonna try that myself on Mon. I have plenty of butt to cab off. You did some real beauties, so the sacrifice seems worth it.

I opened this thread because I was wondering what a person looks like losing there butt cabing. I know my butt is broke because it has a crack in it. But that's from tumbling.
Very nice looking cabs. Hope your doing better.

You did some real beauties, so the sacrifice seems worth it. Thanks butt I cab while standing I tried doing stones in stages while sitting but hated it. Like I would sit down and rough grind 10-15 stones in a row. Now I do each single stone complete from start to finish while standing ... I don't even dop anymore. I'm SO much more productive since I stopped dopping at the beginning of this year. Now I don't spend a bunch of time working on a bunch of stuff that never gets finished
