Can't really tell from the pic as it's not cut to show the interior but I'd say not Wingate. I've had quite a lot of that particular plume and it tends to be very botryoidal, often crystal covered, and with extremely apparent red and yellow plume. Maybe if yours was opened up it might be plumy. Best well to tell is to cut it open.....Mel

Doesn't wingate trend more towards yellow and orange and not rose or red?

Shoot, I'm a guy and not all that fancy on colors. I supposed you might call the red, red-orange but to me it's just red. *L* All my cabs are yellow and what I'd call red plume. Usually the yellow areas have to be superglued due to porous areas. What I will say is the plume is very well developed. I'd post pics cept Peebucket got me finally.....Mel

Doesn't look like any Wingate rough I have ever seen.
Is that a slice of the rough exterior?
ETA
I've seen only a small amount. People that have it hoard it. Likely they'll die and never realize it's value.

And variations of Wingate are the closest I have seen . I will post other pictures soon to show more of the details.thanks.

All I know is the material in the collection was collected during the 40's through the 70's, then sat there since 1978 before I found it. Unfortunately all the larger pieces where not labbled, I will look up binghamite.thank you.

The beer would be gone by the time I hit New Mexico, and the rock probably not make I through Arizona cause I would have it traded out for a truck load of rocks and would have to turn around In Phoenix,
