Mel, Instead of the inefficient and light plastic drawers. Measure the space you have and see if you can find 2nd hand chests of drawers at Salvation Army or at Habitat for Humanity to fill that space. I have cut down solid but skinned up furniture to fill a certain sized area. Worked great for the seeding machine area. Maybe figure out a way to get the valuable counter space away from the tumblers. Especially the rotaries. Maybe an open drawer front, sliding shelf. Saw isn't used much, Can it slide under a shelf that is valuable counter space and pulled out when you use it? Maybe under the cabber?? Thank You for your input Big Bro. A couple of questions: Replace plastic drawers with possibly dresser type drawers... 1. Are you referring to these? 2. What on God's green Earth is The Seeding Area? 3. Move Rotary Tumblers: ummm now that may be doable! I have a work table station with shelves above it that can be cleaned out in our unattached garage!! Saw isn't used much: You have to be talking about the trim. I THOUGHT YOU SAID I NEEDED A BREAK!! Now you've added another 2 days of organization work 😂

After seeing all of the pictures, I have decided to talk to your DH and tell him that you definitely need a new work shop. I'm sensing that your could trip on cords and end up face planting into an 80 grit wheel. It's a matter of safety.

Thought I saw a slab saw sitting. Need the trim saw handy. I do greenhouse nursery work so I need a large seeding area for the seeding machine and hundreds of different seed being planted. X amount each sow date. Lots of small hand tools, labels, and equipment involved plus sanitizers, scissors, ID tags and other mundane items. Your shop is like a greenhouse. Every time I build one, I already need more. Have 60,000 square feet now and always want more. grin. Maybe a small hoop frame greenhouse like Jim and I use could be set up alongside to dry store some of your equipment like slab saw and rough etc or that you can use out there to cut? Not talking a huge one like most of them but a smaller one, covered in polyfilm that lasts 5-6 years and lets light in in winter. May not work though. Even our squash up here are different.

Logistical genius.
I like a small space for building stuff. EVERYTHING at less than a step away.
As Tela mentioned cords and tubing supplies are a big issue.
I spend at least a year changing and reorganizing a work flow till it is max efficiency no matter the cost or effort in tearing out and re-locating.
Welding on one table about 2' X 5' following resources within a step or two:
Welder Plasma cutter Compressed air Pressure washer 4 hand grinders including replacement wheels Cut-off saw Helmuts Face guards Welding rods Assortment of hand tools Acetylene torch Jigs and markers Rest stations for all above Ventilation fan Lighting Music box Vice(s) Bench grinder Anvil Phone
All that stuff surrounds the work table, takes up a lot of peripheral room 360 degrees around work table. At various levels too. Hand travel distance closely optimized at most comfortable position to reduce fatigue and back strain. Sequence is critical. Yes, a production set up. But even a non-production shop has similar issues. And big ain't necessarily better. A human close to their tools is way more efficient. Neatness paramount. Clean helps. Climate control and lighting too.
Shop setup has so many combinations to be decided from. It actually takes a lot of actual time spent using the shop to make good decisions on where things should be.
Kitchens are another work flow study.
Your shop is full of unique holders and hangers. shelves and crannies. Impressive use of a plethora of gadgets. Looking and learning.

Dang Cliff, your Squash are very diverse. Looks like a great party. Fine growing equipment. I never ever had it that good. I did have about all plants on tables in the houses. High capital costs but worth it as age of 60 approached lol.

High capital costs but worth it as age of 60 approached lol. Greenhouse benches made the weeds less a problem when one starts growing below. When growing a lot of international exotics as a main stay it requires a lot more heat and in Colorado that's expensive. 15-25 k per month if you aren't really careful. Another reason for having a lot of benching and concrete walks, is that I am completely retail and customers are mostly a lot of ladies from the surrounding ski areas who demand such. A real positive aspect is if you have a savage old weeding goose who owns the property and will attack anyone, it gives the ladies time to scatter when Solavena would come waddling through. Solavena had Dennis Weaver and his dear little wife Geri cornered in their Prius out by the dumpster one day. No respect for Hollywood folks I guess. Benching raises the plants into a warmer zone and if you do like jamesp you buy smarter and take advantage of great used stuff even if you spend half of a Colorado winter hauling heavy loads over Monarch Pass at 11,000 ft elevation. Couldn't Mel use a few sections of the size greenhouse frames like you use. Poly covered for storage and for a slab saw etc. to save her valuable inside space? You can see a possible scenario if she has friends ride down and build it for her. Cant save the whole world Jim but maybe you can save a dear lil munchkin... Maybe pallets on the floor of a cold frame to keep the equipment dry. Mel could also use the rest of such a structure for growing her garden, protected from the critters too. No heating the structure and would provide free solar heat on even a day with moderate sun and 30 degree outside temperatures.
Good Morning Luis. Good Morning Solavena.. (Solavena over seeing a garlic test plot being planted)

I did make benches in one house that did not have warm gravity fed water tables and sure enough it gladly froze tropicals. Another house the ole bulldozer dug 4 feet lower than ground and bridged the 'lowered floor' with greenhouse frame plus had gravity water. 3 zones warmer, mean machine. The ground is your friend.
Solavena is your best worker. weeding labor difficult to find. What nationality Solavena ? i had some Africans, bold rascals. dogs scared to death of them.
Those greenhouses are relentless hot down this way. curse in summer, cat's meow in winter. 4 months of the year they are great. My deer hunter buddies have been hauling them off. Perfect for deer camp.

HAd and have a lot of Canadiens All around the nursery. Know them an they mostly have names. Customers love them.
The silly goose on top the gravel pile is Billy. He thinks he's an eagle most days. Sits on top of the 10 ft tall game fence poles around the property and his mate Peggy yells at him. He also sits in trees at times. 40 above the ground. Odd duck for sure. The mated trio of Mormon geese Sarge, Daisy and Gracie and baby named Georgie.

But I've been sharing this thread with him and he's making plans for an expansion in the Spring!!! In the Spring? The Spring? Checking my calendar, that's like 7 months away. Uh... and what is wrong with next week? It would take me a couple days to order and have a custom shed delivered - if I had the room you do. You don't need a West Wing added on, just another shed. Have one for your saw and tumbling equipment and rocks bins. (the dirty stuff) And a shed for your cabbing and more intricate work that you are getting involved in now. (the clean stuff) EASY. Internet research, phone call, get out checkbook. Tell him that you will take care of the first two tasks, and not change the locks on the front door, if he handles the third step. The Spring... criminy

Wanted to get your rock hound on. This is where Noah is at this very minute. Badlands of North Dakota. Heading off to hunt. He found that wood jasper piece in the Yellowstone River. Any idea? Will leave the pictures up for a bit and then remove . Look at the cobbles in the road on his way to badlands. See any agates?
You don't have to take the photos down silly! My sister an I are heading to Utah ( aDave) September 18th!!! That state will never be the same!! Con's sending us and letting us loose!

If we ever sell, it would add value to the property. Leave my shop where it is and have a back door opening to the rock saw "dirty" shop. Also thinking about finishing the huge attic above it.

Someone put two itty bitty cars there. Cant haul much with those.. well maybe could haul butt. grin.. Noah just scored a nice piece of Grass Butte agatized wood 3 minutes ago.
