MsAli ...looks like you figured out something for the photos. I wasn't paying attention that you were on Tapatalk. Had I realized, I'd have tagged melhill1659 for help. She's a whiz posting photos with that app. Me...not so much. I pretty much only get on with a PC. If you're looking for rocks that fluoresce, and if you're ever in Southern CA, visit the Princess Pat Mine north of Adelanto. I believe it's an old tungsten mine, and there's plenty of material in the tailings piles and general area. It's a dirt road that will get you there, and a high clearance vehicle is probably best suited for the trip. I have a 4x4 pickup but didn't end up using four wheel drive. Not meaning to derail your thread, but here are a few photos of some of the material. I was told that the rocks with white specks was scheelite, but I can't say for sure.

I just actually joined it and was able to figure out how to post pictures that way. What do they look like without being under the light? I rarely get to Southern Ca as I hate the freeways here and my little Versa doesn't do well over the grapevine. Plus she doesn't have much clearance; )

Blue/white is definitely sheelite. That one with lots of stars I call "starry night sheelite". Orange is caliche and green is uranium. Doesn't take much U to make lots of light. aDave

I'd go out there again, as it was neat being in pitch black looking for this stuff with UV lights. My son has wanted to go out there, so perhaps I can get him out to see this stuff. I'd also like to do some sky photography out there. Just another thing on the bucket list. Dave

What rocks are there? I also have a telescope but haven't used it in years. I just need a place to setup and do sky photos with a dark sky. I bought a new lens that I haven't even opened yet...but it would be perfect for dark sky photos of the milky way. Dave

Something in my gut is telling me that is what it is, but then again my gut has been way wrong before ; )Is the mine still open to tour? I would love to see that. Also, where is a good place to get a light? Ahhh my gut was wrong. Took it down to a shop that sells Gems and Minerals and it did not light up at all. Its still a pretty piece of quartz

See why can't I find a cool place like that? 😂 You can, Go to mindat.org and search for mines in your area. Or search here westernmininghistory.com/mines/The search's will let you find areas that may have minerals that you can look for. (stay out of the private property and mine workings)

They are private but the areas upstream and downstream are public and also good fishing spots.
